Technically a great movie

Movie: Slumdog Millionaire Compliment the user
Overall Rating

Saw Slumdog millionair a little late, and came to the concliusion that its a good movie as far as the cinematography and techinacilities are concerned, but story wise I find a lot of loop holes. No I cannot relate to this movie at all, yes there are some parts which are so called "real" but at the end of it, this is a typical bollywood movie, with a lot of cliches.

Coming to the music Depptt maybe this is new for the west, but I guess Rahman has given much better music than this, but still I would rate the music as okish. I was particularly dissappointed by the lrics of the movie, specially the song "Ringa Ringa" and when I came to know that this was written by Gulzar, I was more dissappointed.

Overall worth one time watch

Perfect time to release a perfect political movie

Movie: Gulaal Compliment the user

Story

So the election fever is on, and how can our movies be far behind in depicting it? Come the election season and there ckmes one of the best movies ever made on student politics. I liked other ones as well like hasil and mere apne, but this one takes the crown.

Every character in the movie seemed so real, Kay Kay's acting as Dukey bana was mindblowing and so was Raja Singh Chaudhary's acting as Ransa, Raja's role was a very small one, biut leaves a great impact. But I dont think that the movie will do good on the box office, as this is one movie which is made out of sheer passion and not for the masses. Anurag Kashyap has become the master story teller lately with his two new flicks Dev D and now Gulaal.

I particularly liked Piyush Misra's role, his jokes, his sarcastic poem, and last but not the least the music and the lyrics of the movie are simply great. It has been a long time since I heard such good Hindi poetry anywhere. New comerAyesha Mohan and Jesse Randhawa has done a great job as well. Each and every actor's role is mind blowing in the movie. AK has proved again, that it is the eyes with which an actor connects with the viewers....

Overall a must watch for all the "movie buffs"

Boring

Movie: Delhi 6 Compliment the user
Overall Rating

The first thing that I thought after 30 min of this movie is, why did I ever come to see this movie. Believe me Guys this is a total Pakaoo movie, and according to me if you do not want to get bored, please pass this movie. I felt as if I am sitting in the theatre since ages. Abhishek Bachhan is looking FAT, and he is dancing around with his obscene ponch. The only good thing about the movie is Sonam Kapoor, she is looking very pretty.

Rakeysh Om Prakash has made the entire movie in "n" number of skits, with there being no correlation of skit number 2, from skit number 1. The songs just bunp into the story anytime, and hamper the flow of the movie, if there is any. The "Kala Bandar" similarity is hilarious... Its hard to bieleve kind of story, nothing practical about it. There is nothing much to the technicality so not worth talking about it.

My Rating: 2

Please avoid this movie

AK took Devdas to the next level
Feb 7, 2009

Movie: Dev D Compliment the user
Overall Rating
Story
Cast Performance
Soundtrack
Cinematography

First things first, Anurag Kashyap has taken Dev Das to the next level. Yes this is definitely Devdas of the modern times. Whatever flaws were there in the original story of Devdas has been removed! I guess a lot of people know about the story, so not describing that here.

AK has shown the ego of Dev is a classic way, but then too the good part of the movie is that Paro also has a self respect, she does love Dev, but has an ego as well. The calssic example of this fact was the scene when Paro meets Dev in a hotel, Dev keeps telling her "Galti ho gayi" "I still love you" and in the end of the scene the way she shows Dev his "aukat". And immediately after this scene the director captures her pain very well while she is walking away from him. The two real life incidents incorporated in the movie is the DPPS MMS scandal, and the BMW hit and run cas. the director has done justice to both the incidents, the trauma after it, and how just one incident can spoil your life forever!

The scenes that I really loved, which spoke a thousand words:

1) The scene when Paro wipes her tears and decides to move on...

2) The scene when Dev hugs Chanda and tells her "beta its ok"

3) When Paro shows the aukat of Dev, after her marriage to an older man.

4) when Dev's father dies, he visits back home, he just cries infront of his mom, this is the only time when Dev is seen crying, this is a scene which speaks a lot without a single dialogue. still cant relate to why people in theatre were cribbing over this scene, I think this is one of the best scenes in the entire movie.

5) The end of the movie!

Abhay Deol has done a fabulous job as Dev, Mahie Gill has done justice to the role, as a curious lover girl, who is finding places to make love to Dev!!! and then suddenly matures a lot after "moving on"

A must watch

Movie: Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na Compliment the user
Overall Rating
Story
Cast Performance
Soundtrack
Cinematography
First things first, I would give the movie a rating of 4.5 / 5. I would say that there is nothing new to the story, just an old formula, retold, re crafted. But Aabbas Tyrewala's style of narration is superb. I would say that the movie is a tamed down version of Dil Chahta hai, no not a masterpiece as DCH, but yes you will identify wioth the crowd somewhere. Be it the crush amonst the friends, be it the indecisive nature of Aditi and Jai, be it the foolishness of Jignesh Patel, or a very closely knit relationships between friends.

The movie starts with a group of people waiting for somebody at the airport, and in them is a girl who actually is an air hostess, and she hated the idea of waiting at the airport for a delayed flight, she is pissed off, snapping everybody. And then the remaining four guys starts narrating a story, a unique Love story, Jai and Aditi's love story. The director with the help of these people explained every aspect of their relationship. Some aspects which were not very obvious, some which were underlying aspects in their relationship, is beautifully explained / highlighted with these friends! I loved the side story about the "ranjhaud ke rathore" and the cameo by Naseer.

What I liked about the movie was the fact that Jai (Imran) and Aditi (Genelia) are always with each other, the best friends ever existed on this earth, but still they are not in love, OK, at least they don't think about love. But they cant live without each other. The way Jai cares about Aditi, the way Aditi fights for Jai, everybody except them know that they are in love, but good thing is nobody in the group interferes this love / friendship relationship of theirs. They just leave it on time, or rather Jai and Aditi!

Acting wise Imran and Genelia has done a good job, yes he is the new Chocolate boy, and believe me he is good at it, I was just amazed to see the reaction of the girls in the movie theater :-). I think Genelia needs to work on her Hindi accent, but somehow I found that cute, the cute Goan Hindi accent! AR Rahman's music is fresh and amazing!

Overall a must watch.

And yes Harman Baweja: Dont compare yourself with this dude, he is here to stay!

Movie: Shaurya Compliment the user
Overall Rating
Story
Cast Performance
Soundtrack
Cinematography

Samar Khan (Director) has given a lovely crafted movie, a controversial topic handled very delicately. The story is about a soldier who kills his fellow officer, there are musteries in the begining of the movie, why does he kill ? is he the Militant ?

Rahul Bose is an army lawyer, a happy go lucky guy, who becomes serious after he gets to know the reality. The movie  handles various topics, friendship and proffesionalism, patriotism, and moreover the definition of Shaurya (Courage) given by the director is awesoem. What is Shaurya is it killing somebody ? Is it standing in the line of fire ? to find out see the movie!

On the acting Deptt everybody has done a great job! Rahul Bose, Javed Jaffery, KK Mennon, Minissha Lamba. and the story is gripping, the viewer never loses its interest. However Minissha Lamba is not looking cute at all, probably bad makeup!

Masterpiece
Mar 12, 2008

Movie: Black & White Compliment the user
Overall Rating
Ok first things first, Subhash Ghai has delivered a master piece, the movie is just too good, he has again proved that he is amongst the finest directors in Bollywood. There is a lot of difference between his earlier movies and this one, the most important being that this movie is not for commercial Cinema, but yes I assure you that this is Cinema at its best. Ultimate Direction, cinematography, characterization, acting and above all lovely music.

Before going to see the movie I read the review on CNN-IBN (given by Mr Masand of Masand ki Pasand fame), unfortunately he has given this movie a 1 star, I was quite surprised how can anybody dislike such a movie. Mr Masand I am higly confused, you give the commercial flicks (with all those hot looking chicks) a "4 " star and here is a movie which is good in all the respects be it acting, direction, music, cinematography, editing and you give it a "1" star ? Probably this means that at the end of it you are also a commercial film critic, or rather I should say that you are only a film "critic" I have rarely seen you praising movies. Let me tell you Mr Masand, good work needs to be appreciated. This is one movie which is capable of changing the mindset of people and you give it a "1" star ??????  your review is not just bad it is PATHETIC. Mr Masand you call the lamenting of Anil Kapoor (in the movie) over his wife's death a constant hamming???? let me tell you that is called brilliant acting. Go see the movie again, and this time don't write a review, just see it for yourself. Kisna and Yadein seems watchable??? and you are being generous to this movie... thank you sir!!!!

Now about the movie, this is the story of a fidayein, a suicide bomber, seeing India through his eyes, the circumastances in which he has become a terrorist,  I wont mention much about the story as most of you know what it is about. The acting by newcomer Anurag Sinha is too good, he is here to stay, Subhash Ghai has again given bollywood a talented actor, like always. Anurag has done full justice to the role of a suicide bomber, his stoned look, his expressionless face, his hatred towards the non Muslims, everything is just brilliant about this young newcomer (yes Mr Masand the angry young man look is a part of acting!! ). On the other hand Anil Kapoor had a decent part in the film, this is definitely his one of the best performances ever. The scene in which his wife dies and Anil is shocked / surprised, how can this happen to them, they haven't troubled anybody, this is one scene to look out for, his acting is too good here (yes this is the same scene where Mr Masand says that "his constant humming"). The movie has definitely shown an intellectual view of the Hindu Muslim factor in India, from the eyes of a professor, how he views it, how should the next generation view it. Whatever has happened is past, are we going to Spoil our entire lives, or for that matter the lives of innocent citizens because something didn't go the way I wanted to ?

The Delhi Angle: Delhi is looking beautiful, the view of Lal Quila in the mist and fog, the Qutab Minar, Chandini Chowk. Infact Anil Kapoor was caught in a burkha in the gallis of Chandini Chowk when the movie was being made , probably the entire team has done some decent research on the Delhi factor. The Punjabi accent, the sirji culture, and the list is endless.

The characterization of Shefali Shah, and the elderly poet is just perfect. Overall a must see for all the "cinema Lovers" and please ignore CNN-IBN's verdict, remember they gave 1 star to Ek Chaalis ki last Local  also....which turned out to be a good movie.

My Opinion: a must watch

Over all rating : 4/5

Movie: Jodhaa Akbar Compliment the user
Overall Rating

You go to the theatre thinking that its a great epic, but in the end its a big disappointment. Just to give you all an insight, the movie started at 10:00 pm and at 12:15 am it reached interval. Its a very very long (probably 4 hrs) movie with not much to show. Ashutosh Govariker has made huge sets and definitely the set up and designing is impressive but I think only these two things are impressive. The problem with the directors who try making epics is that they end up getting biased, Akbar was a great king, but Rana Udai Singh (forefather of Maharana Pratap) of Marwar is shown as a villain in this movie.

It seems Akbar was close to god on earth and rest of the kings and prince were just existing on this earth. the songs are pathetic, never expected this kind of score from AR Rahman. According to me this is a waste of time (if not money) and please avoid this movie.

Some movies are made to spread a message, they are made with pure passion, and not because they would / Should do good at the box office, believe me this is one movie that might change your perseption about a lot of things.

A very good subject and very delicately handled by Aamir Khan, the acting by the little boy, Tisca Chopra, and Aamir is too good. Every scene, each song, all the emotions portrayed are just pure brilliant. I would definitely rate this movie as the best movie of 2007. A must watch for everybody.

Movie: Dus Kahaniyaan Compliment the user
Overall Rating

First things first, this is a good movie or rathr I should say a good concept, before you start getting bored of the same story the story ends, and to entertain you for a period of 2 Hrs 30 mins they ahve 10 different stories, all are logical and good, every story has a good twist in the end, and before you start getting bored of a story ... it ends

Detailed review:

Story1: Matrimony

Good twist, this one is my favorite in all the 10 stories. Mandira Bedi is looking good, or rather hot I should say. This is about a lonely bored housewife and what she does to kill her boredom or rather spice up her life, but she finds out in the end that it is not only her who is spicing her life ..... ;)

Story 2: High on the highway

This is a wierd story, about a couple in college who have a wierd timepass after getting drunk out of their mind they go for a walk on the highway everyday since the last theree years, today is the last day of college , they decide to do the same, Jimmy Shergill is in love with Masumi Makhija, but she thinks that love complicates matters, but on the last day of their college life when they decide to take a walk on the highway, life after that is not all the same.

Story 3: Puranmasi

Miniisha Lamba is looking cute as always :P Amrita singh is her mother, she is soon getting married, Amrita is not treated well by her husband, but then she (Miniisha) always cheers her up , one day she does the same as she always did, and in that cheering up Amrita Singh commited some mistakes which screwed everybody's life. Good Story!

Story 4: Stranger in the night

Neha Dhupia and Mahesh Manjarekar are  the lead characters in this story, they play this wierd game on their marriage anniversary evry time, to tell each other if they cheated the other one, so Mahesh had already told Neha about his physical enconters, it was the turn of Neha now, he is sarcastically giving comments, but then there is a very good twist in the end when Neha ends her story.

Story 5: Zahir

Manoj Bajpai is an employee in the bank and thinks of quitting his job to persue his dream of writing a novel, shifts into a new apartment where Dia Mirza lives, immediately falls in love with her. But she gets really upset with him when he tries to get initimate with her once. what follows after this is a saga of male-ego-hurted type of story, this also has a big twist in the end, I didnt like this story though

Story 6: Lovedale

girl borads the train to meet a guy for matrimonial alliance, but she ends up getting off the train at a station named "Lovedale" as she has a belonging of a co pasenger, what follwos now is a fairy tale love story.....

Story 7: Sex on the Beach

Dino Morea (whom I hate) is sitting on a beach, tired of boredom, then he discovers a book in the sand , signs it, and then from somewhere a drop dead gorgeous... hot girls appears on the beach, they end up flirting with each other, but then she calls Dino to her place for............. but something else was supposed to happen.

Story 8: Rice Plate

I loved this story, Shabana Azmi is a religious south Indian lady, she is very particular about who is a hindu and who is a muslim, I guess on these terms she decides to talk to people, use their services (eg Taxi). She meets Naseer at Bandra station which changes her entire outlook. I liked this one!

Story 9: Gubbare

This one has Rohit Roy, Nana Patekar and Natasha. Pretty predicatable concentrates on the nitty gritty fights involved in married life. Okish story.

Story 10: Rise and Fall

This story has style, action, and above all Sanju Baba. not much of story line, Sanju baba is a don, whose supari is given by his right hand Suniel Shetty. The story has good action and obviuosly style by Sanju Baba. I liked it :P

Beware Aishwarya, Kareena, Rani etc etc, Madhuri is back and she is here to stay. Thos movie has everything for a Madhuri fan. Million Dollar smile, amazing dance, brilliant acting. Worth watching once if you are not a madhuri fan, and for Madhuri fans this is a must watch. The story is okish, with decent performances by everybody.

Akshay Khanna suited in the role of Raja Sahab, but basically this film is about Madhuri's comeback so you get lots of madhuri smile, dances and acting by her. Otherwise the film has a lot of bollywood cliches, and you can predict the other move. Konkana Sen Sharma is lively and the movie has some decnt comic scenes as well. The final dance Drama play is well shot specially the lights and cinematography.

i dont know what has happened to all these biggy directors, I can never figure out what Sanjay Leela Bhansali was trying to show in this movie, and then there was those irritating dance steps by Ranbir. Sonam is cute but her role is limited to smiling and just smiling, for a change she cries too!

I guess Sanjay had been doing this "change the script to match the set pleas" act since a long time, all his movies has this bluish black tinge, and it seems that after black he forgot that there is something called sunlight and that too exists!

Rani I guess is obsessed with the role of prostites, and believe me she is bad in it. Salman is there for two scenes only so cant talk much about it

Overall a MUST AVOID, I would give it as a rating of 1

mmm I think I need to watch the movie again, this is the first reaction after I came out of the theatre. Cinematography is good, apart from this actually I am not able to make out anything!

It has fundas of Matrix, some shady Ramsay Movie (atma and all that crap).... Nazi like gas chambers. Well if any of u reading this review has the mail  address of John Abraham please give it to me, I want to understand the plot...... atleast he mmust have read and understood the script. But apparently he was found saying "this movie is different"  and it surely is !

I am giving 2 stars to the movie just because I cannot post here without giving the ratings, but actually I would definitely like to watch it again just because I want to understand the plot... and would hold my rating till then

Overall Rating: No Comments (didnt understand the movie)

Movie: Jab We Met Compliment the user
Overall Rating
I went to the movie theater thinking that a movie with Kareena and Shahid... hmmm I shouldn't expect much out of it, but I was wrong, apparently its a pretty nice movie. By the way for those who don't know , its a movie by the director of Socha Na tha... and that was an highly underrated movie.

Now coming back to Jab we met. The movie starts a little painfully with Shahid not opening his mouth for about 5-7 minutes (as he was ditched by a girl) and that starts to become irritating. And then enters Kareena, well at this point of time too I found the movie painful as she just kept chatting like a chatterbox.... but eventually you get tuned to it and starts liking it. The director has picked the star cast pretty carefully, Kareena who overacts in a number of movies doesn't seem to be doing that in this movie, as her role requires that. On the other hand Shahid has acted brilliantly, his facial expressions, his role of a young industrialist.

Watch the film for fun and you will like it, please do not try to go into facts like "this doesn't happen in corporate world" and "This is no way to run a company " as the film is not about that. Again the director like his previous movie has captured the indecisiveness in love of an individual pretty well. The movie is emotional but then too it doesn't get painful, there are some really hilarious moments too in the movie. Apart from this the Punjabi Culture and Sardars are shown well in the movie. Songs are good except the slower ones, at one time they just come back to back, so at that time maybe you can go out and grab a popcorn.

Overall a good movie I would give 4/5

Disclaimer: I liked this movie probably because I didn't expect much from a Shahid and Kareena movie. ;-)

A very good movie, after a long time I happened to see a good suspense thriller in bollywood, however it is said that this movies is inspired from an old Hollywood flick, Chinatown, well I havent seen Chinatown but found tghis movie's theme as well as story very gripping.

Abhay is too good in the role of Satyaveer Singh Randhawa an aspiring detective and a suspended Junior Engineer. The director apparently has captured the issues and the lives of people in small town India very well. And inj the end every thing gets explained. However there is a point in the movie when all the clues with Abhay are open ended. But I guess this gets explained in the end. I wont reveal anything about the movie's story as it might spoil the enthu!

Overall a must watch!

Ramu needs to do something towards his creativity, where has the horror of raat gone? where has the thrill of Kaun gone, where are the directorial skills of Sarkar gone? However this movie is okish from the aspect that it started as a thriller / horror but eventually everybody in the theatre found it to be a comedy!

this is the third consecutive movie where the camera is always focussed on the leg / feet of actresses, well over the period of time it seems that Ramu has developed a sort of obsession for legs / feet, and it gets really irritating to see out of focussed scenes, this might be good photography but I cant relate to it , or maybe Ramu is ahead of time.

Overall watchable once and in the end u will end up laughing, go with your friends so that you have a good time

*But after all these errors, i am still waiting for Sarkar-2, maybe this is Ramu's history that still people go watch his movies

This is the one of the most pathetic movies I have ever seen, this has so many loop holes in the plot. When you are a self proclaimed "Great" director, then either you dont touch" the baap of all bollywood movies"... sholay, or give atleast something that people can tolerate.  Ramu actually tried to fit in the popular dialoguies of Sholay in this movie and that made the matters worse.

Ajay devgan sucks big time, this movie shows that how a director can waste an actor of his caliber, but the most irritating character in the whole movie is inpector Narasimha (Thakur in original sholay) his accent is so irritating that whenever he comes on the screen you end up abusing him, sorry but I cant help it. I have seen sholay some 20 - 25 times and I know each and every dialogue by heart, but in the theatre I couldnt make out what is going on in the movie......

Actually the spoof that MTV made on Sholay was far better than this crap, atleast it had some similarity with the original one, but wioth this movie I dont know what Ramu is trying to prove.... he is drawing similarities in such a way that the people sitting in the theatre cannot make out.... maybe only he can make out...

My take avoid it.......I gace this movie one star on this site, because there is no option to give 0

*My take dont see this movie, you will end up with a headache

again please avoid it... and give respect to a masterpiece named Sholay

This is a great movie after a long time from the Yash Chopra camp, after a long time SRK has again acted as Shahrukh Khan and not as King Khan. This was the case with swades as well. The film touches a lot of aspects.... Hckey vs Cricket..... Women's Liberation.... eve teasing......Team Spirit... patriotism.

The film is released on 10th of august ... the independence day fever is on this epitome this week. The movie is grasping and the viewer doesnt get bored, even the girls in the team acted very well. I personally liked:

1) Komal Chautala (her acting and Dialogue delivery)

2) Preeti Sabharwal (looks gorgeous)

3) Vidya Sharma (good acting and good looking as well)

4) Bindiya Naik (good acting)

over all a must see....

This is a pretty grasping Thriller coming from the Ramu camp, Urmila has done a wonderful job in the role of Sarika Vartak, and saif ali was so good in his performance that in the end of the movie that even I wanted to kill him. The second thing I likesd in the movies was no wasting time in songs and unnecessary love scenes.

Amust watch for everyone!

Good Style and Action

Movie: Yalgaar Compliment the user
Overall Rating
Story
Cast Performance
Soundtrack
Cinematography
This movie is a product of the Firoz Khan productions, there was a time when he used to make good movies like qurbaani, Jaanbaaz, Yalgaar.... but lately this reputation doesnt hold

Getting back to the movie well there was nothing special to the movie, but then too I somehow liked the movie maybe good action and style by Firoz Khan, the new comer was pathetic in this movie however Manisha looked sweet, Sanjay Dutt was looking as dashing as ever. This is a story about two families, Firoz Khan's and Sanjay Dutt's both love their father and can do anything for him, but there is a big difference Sanjay Dutt's father (Kabir Bedi) is a mafia don and Firoz Khan's fathe (ACP Ashwani Kumar) is one soon to become the police commissioner of Bangalore. To make the matters worse Manisha Koirala (Firoz Khan's niece) falls in love with Kabir Bedi's son, who hates his dad's profession and runs a garage....

Overall a good movie

Movie had good songs, my personal favorite is Aakhir tumhe aana hai....

Trying to create Comedy by creating Chaos!
Jul 22, 2007

Movie: Partner Compliment the user
Overall Rating

Wel I wasnt excited about this movie from the begining itself, but then yesterday I saw the review of ginsoakedboy, which said that it is a good movie. Well no point discussing about the story line as dinrat has pretty well told the storyline, now for the review part.

I think:

1) The movie is divided into a number of small skits which have no correlation with each other, after a song suddenly the director throws Lara Dutta... and then there is a skit... after this skit is over the director suddenly throws Chhota Don, I dont know why he was in the movie, I am personally a fan of Rajpal Yadav, but he has dissappointed me big time in the movie. So my take the film is made up of a number of small skits.

 2) Secondly Govinda has beated Salman in acting as well as dance caliber.... Salman's fans might not agree with it but I feel that he was overacting at times....

3) Katrina is looking cute but again I dont think that she knows anything about acting.... Lara is pathetic as told by ginsoakedboy.

4) Hitch was much better, probably according to me this comedy movie lies in the catogory where the director is trying to create comedy by creating chaos, after seeing comedies like "ek chaalis ki last local" and "Cheeni Kum" this mvie comes as a pain. The movie is supposed to have some logic in it I suppose..... if we go by the word that dont try and apply ur brain then this would have been true for movies like "Tom Dick and Harry" and "Traffic Signal" ... just dont apply ur brain whatever the director is broadcasting just recieve that... again I say this is my opinion and other people's opinion might differ!!!

5) The songs are pretty pathetic.. again dropped from the sky.. trying to copy the rappers and I dont know what... Chheni kum was a great movie and most of the songs were playing in the background... or maybe David Dhawan wanted to justify the money spent on the movie.... but for that he atleast needs to put some.... atleast some amount of logic

Final take I dont like it... at times it was a comedy .... or rather created chaos.... at times it gave fndas of patriotism... at times it gave fundas of honesty.... and still at times it gave fundas of Love!!!

--my advice: Avoid it--

Movie: Naqaab Compliment the user
Overall Rating
Story
Cast Performance
Soundtrack
Cinematography

Naqaab's tag line is disguised intentions, it is well justified in the movie.. Sophiya (Urvashi Sharma) is the lead actress who works in Burger King in Dubai, she is in love with a millionare Karan (Bobby Deol), and they plan to get married soon, but on her engagement party with her friends she meets Akshaye Khanna, and things are not the same after that meeting, she finds herself drifting towards this "happy go lucky" guy who is a struggling actor in Dubai. But all is not what it seems to be.... this guy (Akshaye Khanna) has been hired by somebody named Rohit to fall in love with Sophiya.... The film has couple of mysteries, which are gripping. However you may find the movie a little boring in the first 15 minutes but when the plot starts uncovering the viewer gains interest in the story. I however didnot finf the movie boring in the first 15 minutes too... well Urvashi Sharma is looking Gorgeous in the movie.... so u can pass your time concentrating on her ;)

Akshaye Khanna's acting is good, Urvashi Sharma is okish... and she is looking too good in the movie. The songs are ok and they are less in number I think only two so u dont get bored once the plot starts to uncover.

Overall worth watching once, a new concept ;)

Saw it on the DVD. Well after the movie ended I found out that this would have ended in half an hour also, well there is nothing in the movies, except for jumping, Dance, some overacting by Lara and Preity, some random appearences by Amitabh Bachhan. And a wierd story line.

I liked the previous movies by the same director, Bunty and Babli was entertaining if not great, but this movie sucks big time!!

This is my all time favorite movie, I think I have already watched this movie some 15-17 times, well this has everything in the right combination, style (and lots of that) by Big B, emotions Drama, Roamnce and the state of the then India (Unemployement etc).

Has some great Dialogues, the story is written by the same writer duo who wrote for Sholay and Don i.e. Salim Javed, I think they were the hottest story writers of that time. This is a story about a guy, and his family, he loses his father as a result of a Union hassle between the union and the mill owners, after his father dioes they are forced to come to Mumbai.... where the real story begins. To earn their living and in order to educate the younger brother (Shashi Kapoor) Amitabh takes up various types of Job, Boot Polish, a coolie on the Mumbai Docks! and Finally he ends up with a smuggler and becoming his right hand man. But when Shashi Kapoor gets a job of Police inspector and was posted in Mumbai itself... everything is not the same , the family comes to know about it and then the differences start

Overall a must see for any BIG B fan!!!!

I think this movie was made in an era when there was a trend for the love triangle Films, anyways I specially liked the songs of this movie, with Nadeem Shrawan doing some good work. The movie also had some great performances by Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit, I think this was the phase when Salman Khan was graduating as a good actor!!

The movie revolves around the life of Sanjay, Madhuri and Salman, sanjay Dutt is an orphan who is adopted by Salman's parents and then after spending a ver happy childhood , they end up finding out one day when ther grow up that both of them love Madhuri... so then begins the saga of Sacrifice, with both of them willing to sacrifice their love for the other. But the whole point now is who does Madhuri Love????

Overall a good movie.

I saw this movie over the television, and found it pretty decent, the performances by Bobby Deol, and Lara is commendable. Even the story is good, where a police officer just frames Ritesh Deshmukh in some false charges so that he gets the credit of catching a criminal, and then the story revolves around Bobby Deol (ritesh's Brother) to get a clean chit fdor his brother.

However in the end the movie gets a little dramatic, but worth watching once!

I watched this movie over the weekend, saw it last time i guess when I was in class 5th. But this time I saw this with a whole new perspective. I was surprised that this movie was directed by Sai Paranjpai, the same director who has given fabuloaus comedies like Katha and Chashme Buddoor, on one hand she was able to capture the life of bachelors so wonderfully and on the other hans is this movie, where the director has given an account of the life of a blind man, and the school run by him. The acting of all the students in the blind school is so good, there is no glamourt in the movie....yet the movie is so engrossing.

I specially found the acting of Naseeruddin Shah  and Shabana Azmi too good in it. The plot the story everything looks so natural!!

A must watch for every movie buff

A very good Mature Comedy
May 29, 2007

Movie: Cheeni Kum Compliment the user
Overall Rating

This is no doubt one of the best comedies I have seen so far in the 2000's , This is about a chef who owns the best india restaurent in London, this man is full of sarcasm, and even his dialogues, be it with his mother, Tabu or the little girl who lives in the flat next to his. I guess the only person he was good to was Tabu's father Paresh Rawal, and then Paresh Rawal kept reminding him his age!!!

This is a very good mature comedy, there is no point discussing Amitabh's acting as he is a legend, but I really liked the acting of Tabu, she has portrayed the role of a 34 yr old women very gracefully, even Zohra Sehgal and the little Girl's acting was too good.

Overall a must watch!

Movie: Life in a... Metro Compliment the user
Overall Rating
This movie is about:

- Life in a Metro ;))
- Battling the hardships in a mEtro
- About the Vices prevelant there
- Rat race in the corporate world
- Extramarital Affairs
- Love Affairs
- Marriage!!!!

Well now the description, all characters in the movie are trying to battle the hardships of living in a Metro. The extra marital affairs in the life of Shilpa Shetty and Kay Kay, the rat race (Sharman Joshi) Love affairs ( Kangana Ranaut) and Marriage (Irrfan Khan, Konkana sen Sharma)

The director has done a fabulous job, the story is grasping, he did not forget any character in the course of the movie (unlike Salaam-e-ishq), except the rat race part the movie was practical, I really dont knbow that the type of favours shown in the movie that ppl in Call Centre and BPO industry resort to is realistic or not but the part was entertaining.

I personally liked Irrfan Khan's character in the movie who is 35 and trying to find a girl for himself! The conversations, his english accent , or rather his english, his habits are like the person that you can find in real life!

The songs in the movie are Mindf Blowing! my personal favourite is Salaam, that come in the end

a must watch!!!

This is an awesome movie which captures the bachelor life of guys inb college very correctly. This is a story about three guys, who live together but are poles apart in their habits and thinking one of them (Farooq Sheikh) is a topper and the other two are floppers in studies. Director Sai Paranjape has depicted the life of the hostelers brilliantly.....and eventually I guess every guy loves this movie because somewhere down the line He connects to the lifestyle these three guys aree living.

Then Enters Miss Chamko (Deepati Naval) and what happens next is total Chaos. A very good mix of comedy with the emotions

Definitely one of the best comedy movies ever made

Movie: Yuva Compliment the user

This was an aesome movie made by the legendary director Mani Ratnam. I think this was the only movie in which I liked Vivek beroi and Esha Deol. the reason for the same is I think the characters were so balanced, I felt that the roles were written keeping the actors in mind.

This movie also gave a social message, probably only some of the movies realted to politics which have a positive end and has given a very practical account of the type of Politics prevalent in West Bengal. Abhishek Bachhan was too good in the movie, I think this was the tuirning point in his acting career, when people started ackowledging his work and he started getting better offers.

Surely one of the best moviesw made on Indian Politics

One of the best movie made on Mumbai Underworld

Movie: Parinda Compliment the user
Overall Rating
Surely One of the best movies ever made on the Mumbai Underworld, has some superb performances By Anil Kapoor, Jakie, Madhuri Dixit and last but not the least Nana Patekar. I personally likes the cinematography of the movie, the songs of the movie were great too. The story revolves around the life ofd Anil Kapoor who returns from US after completing his higher studies only to find that a lot of things has change here, his brother is now the right hand of one of the underworld dons, his best friend is a police officer who is against his brother. Things start changing very fast after anupam Kher was murdered by Nana Patekar, the leading lady in his life Madhuri Dixit looks for support from Anil, but then the circumastances in which Jakie took the route of crime were the main reason for it!

The climax is awesome, Vidhu Vinod Chopra is surely a great director!

A very good movie! after a long time infact after Khosla ka Ghosla a successful comedy has come, it is a sarcastic remark on all the high l;evel socialite parties, has a blen of a lovestoryu as well. The whole movie goes in a single room, but again this goes to the Director's credit that you dont feel bored. Vinay Pathak is too good in the movie, so is Rajat Kapoor, rest of the actors do not have much role but then too I likes Ranvir shorey in his short ten minute role of a tax inspector.

Overall a very good movie and a must see for all.

Decent Movie, worth a watch
Apr 2, 2007

Movie: The Namesake Compliment the user
Overall Rating
Well to start I would rate this movie as an okay one, maybe there was no good movie since a long time, that is why I liked the movie. Namesake runs on a very fast pace, I think the basic Idea of the movie is the importance of Family for an individual, I don't know but the part after Gogol's father dies has too much of similarity with the part from Spiderman 1, when Uncle Ben passes away and Spiderman was guilty, maybe in this movie the guilt was of a different kind.

But the first half of the movie is more or less time pass, nothing important happened, just regular Amriki lifestyle. But in the second half  Kal Penn's acting is good. Tabu is too good in the movie, her acting of a Bengali Housewife in US.

Overall a decent movie , worth a watch!

Movie: Nishabd Compliment the user
Overall Rating
I dont know what the director was trying to show in the movie! Jiah Khan's character was irritating she played the type of girl you would never prefer to talk to! Amitabh's acting was good, if we see him only as an actor but the role was pathetic, the director maybe fails to Justify why a matured man (also a father and Husband) fell in love with an irritating girl, it just shows that they fell in love! There should be a reason and that too a strong one for spoling three lives (Amitabh's , his Daughter's and Revathi's) but the director fails to high light it.

While you are wayching the movie you will notice:

1) That sharadha (who plays amitabh's daughter) is more pretty and a better actor than Jiah Khan

2) Amtabh's acting is good, but his role is too irritating ...he keeps giving Fundas in the whole movie which I fail to understand

3) A good actress like Revati is wasted in the movie

4) Jiah Khan should think of going back from where she came from, as she is not at all good looking and doesnt know the "A" of acting

5) I dont know why the director was so obsessed by Jiah Khan's Legs (he kept showing them whenever he got a chance)

I think this movie shouldnt have been made, really a pathetic one. I would also say that Ramu is a better producer than a director.

Honeymoon Travels pvt Ltd, is a light sarcastic movie, on the institution of marriage! The USP of the movie is the characters , I think the director was successful in portraying the viwpoints of the characters pretty well. Miniisha Lamba is lookin dro dead gorgeous. there were scenes in which the movie became pretty serious but overall the movie is worth a watch

The songs are good I personally liked the song "Pyar ki ek kahani" and yes the dance by Abhay Deol and Miniisha Lamba is awesome in this song!

A very well directed movie/Documentary

Movie: Black Friday Compliment the user
Overall Rating
This film is more like a documentary, but I must compliment a very well directed one, Anurag Kashyap has given a very neutral point of view of the Bombay Bomb Blasts, the Mumbai riots and the demolition of Babri Masjid. There was absolutely no political angle in the film, that was what I liked about the movie. The director was successful in carrying forward the viewpoints of Tiger memon, Badshah, Dawood Ibrahim and the police commissioner, who has put in his heart and soul to crack the case in record time!

The movie is based on a book (Black Friday), and moves according to the chapters in the book, I havent read the book so I cant exactly comment on the point that has the movie done justice to the book. But I can surely say that this is a great movie or rather I should say a documentary!

A must see for everybody!

a very good movie with decent performances by everybody, specially Anil Kapoor, he is really a versatile actor, however I found Sridevi pretty irritating in the movie but it seems at that time she was one of the best actresses That is why I think Yash Chopra signed her.

This film is supposed to be made on a real story somewhere in Rajasthan. buts surely I would rate it as one of the best movies ever made.

the movie probably was much hyped, Vidhu Vinod Chopra giting a Rolce Royce Phantom to Amitabh Bachhan and all those stuff. Yes Amitabh's acting was simply superb in the movie, but there were a little directorial flaws.

Boman Irani has done an awesome job , the role of a complexed man. Saif too suits in the role of the prince but the acting of Raima Sen is disappointing she is shown as a mentally challenged person in the movie, but she fails to deliver the performance needed by that role, sometimes she is very intelligent , and at times she is termed in the movie as a mad girl!Vidya Balan and Sanjay Dutt are wasted in the movie , Specially Dutt he has only a 10 minute role in the entire movie , in fact the whole movie is dominated by Amitabh Bachhan. The story is a little wierd, but the movie is worth seeing once

Movie: Traffic Signal Compliment the user

Oh this movie sucks!!! This is the immediate reaction that I would give in the review! the quality of Madhur Bhandarkars's movie is deteriorating with each new release. After this movie I really don't know what this director is trying to prove, or he wants to be labeled as the director who shows  reality in its raw form, but I really cant figure out the reason to show child abuse , prostitution and other so called "BOLD Dialogues" in every other movie from Madhur Bhandarkar, or he wants to cash upon these aspects only (the dirty dialogues).

Madhur Bhandarkar also is steroetyped now, while you are watching the movie you will realize that every person in Mumbai is involved in any one of these things:

1) Goes to Prostitutes
2) Child Abuse
3) Drugs
4) Beggar Mafia
5) and if he/she is not any of the above then he/she is definitely a Bangladeshi Immigrant

Mr Bhandarkar we would love to know in which catogory do you fall ? There is a much brighter side to Mumbai which the movie fails to emphasize upon. Or Mr Bhandarkar is showing the darker...darkest.......darkest side of Mumbai to prevent the people from Coming to Mumbai????

I think Madhur Bhandarkar shot some 25-30 small skits and just inserted them anywhere in the movie, the movie just doesn't have any flow, it lacks in story line, the actors doesn't know the A of acting they are just reciting their dialogues as a child would recite any poem, oh I forgot just as Mr Bhandarkar forgot, there is a Beggar Mafia king too in the movie...who is just not scary and looks like a neighborhood uncle!!

I think this movie shouldnt have been made, that is why I think this is some gimmick of turning black money of the producers to white!!!!

One more legendary movie given by the navketan banner, this movie tells us the hardships faced by the Indian Army during the Indo-China war, and the incapability of the then Indian Prime minister to save his army, "indi chini bhai-bhai"  this was the slogan that Jawaharlal Nehru kept saying , but the Chinese soldiers kept repeating this statement and continued to kill the Indian Army soldiers

Another order given to the Indian army was we wont be the first one to fire, and hence as a consequence of this foolish order many posts were captured by the Chinese without even a single bullet fired as the Indian soldiers were out numbered by the Chinese, this fact has also been portrayed very well in the movie.

Movie: Guide Compliment the user
Overall Rating
This movie is one of my favorites, the reasons:
1) awesome songs
2) great acting by Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman
3) Concentrates on the trust factor in any relationship
4) Mudafir tu jayega kahan song sung by SD Burman
5) How a common man discovered his potential and put his life to some good use

However there were some deviations from the actual novel, but then too the story was portrayed in a brilliant manner. How Raju Guide evolves as a person, puts his life to a better use after he found himself alone, he did some mistakes , but those were because of the insecurity, instead he thought that the ones whom he loves for whom he left his own mother would understand that Raju can never do any such thing, but maybe by the time waheeda realized this it was too late.

The scene is awesome when Waheeda comes to meet Dev Anand in jail and he does not give any explanation. He knew that he has fallen prey to one of the tricks by Marco.

This movie was also release in English, in which the rosy was a news reader!!

Saw this move the other day on TV , too good was the immediate reaction even after watching it the third time, specially Gayatri Joshi, she is looking gorgeous in the movie, I don't know why she never signed any other movie...

For a change SRK wasn't doing the role of King Khan, and you would actually love to see his acting talent in the role of Mohan Bhargava, don't go to the technical aspects of the movie...how they generate electricity and all those stuff, but yet this movie is worth watching for the great roles and the right picturization of rural India!!!

A good break from Commercial Cinema

Movie: Parzania Compliment the user
Overall Rating
This is a really good movie which concentrates on the actual hardships and atrocities faced by ppl in the riots, the testimonial by Sarika in the end of the movie is really amazing, the acting by Sarika Naseer and even the small girl was too good. But I don't know why I felt that the movie was very much pro Congress, well I know that deeds done by Modi can never be forgiven, but then too I don't agree with the art film directors also falling prey to these dirty politics.

Yes I am convinced with gaurav's reviews that old man preaching gandhigiri was not wanted in the movie I still cant understand why he was there!! then Naseer going on a 9 day fast and seclusion , I still cant understand that even. But the role of Sarika was a really strong one, she is a good actress and maybe should concentrate more on parallel cinema

Yes Modi was wrong in the Godhra episode but we shouldn't forget the development he has given to Gujarat, the roads , the electricity situation and above all after that he came again as a chief minister with a whooping majority, this is a democracy and ppl want him there!!!!

Avoid seeing this movie

Movie: Salaam-E-Ishq: A Tribute to Love Compliment the user
Overall Rating
The movie starts on a good note and for the next half an hour it is good, filled with some great comic scenes, but then the movie starts to bug you and it goes on and on and on........ I felt the same frustration that I felt in KANK when the interval was just not coming. The songs are just not required in the movie, and every time a songs starts ppl said oh no not again!

The director himself forgets some of the couples, as expected and you find that the Sohail-Isha lovestory is forgotten. the movie and the love stories moves at a very slow pace and there is practically no development in till the interval. After the first half of the movie the screen space is captured by mostly two couples, Anil-Juhi and Priyanka-Salman

I would conclude by saying that :Avoid that movie its no point wasting 3.5 hrs!!!

Movie: Apna Sapna Money Money Compliment the user
Overall Rating
this movie is worth a watch and I am sure that u will come out of the movie theaters holding your stomach, a nice comedy, with some good spoofs on sarkar! The Director has utilized that actors very intelligently like the actresses casted in the movie are not very good in dialogs delivery or probably what I think they are not that good actors, hence the director has utilized them only as plastic dolls, the main hillarious parts are done by ritesh deshmukh, Anupam Kher , Jakie shroff and last but not the least Chunkey Pandey!

I liked Chunkey Pandey's role the most in the movie, he is playing the part of a chinky , and he has done it superbly!!!!

Movie: Jaan-e-Mann Compliment the user
Overall Rating
the movie is okay nothing great shakes, but onme thing is remarkable after the movie...Akshay Kumar has energed as a really good actor! Preity Zinta is as usual looking OLD in the movie, I dont know why do the cameramen and the directors show her closeup when she has so many prominent wrinkles!

Some of the comedy scenes between Salman and Akshay are good but overal;l the movie is nothing great! and by the way they have wasred an actor like Anupam Kher!

Movie: Don Compliment the user
Overall Rating
"Don ka intezaar to gyarah mulkon ki police kar rahi hai......." all of u must have heard this dialouge innumerable times but I guess not many ppl (except girls) would like to hear it in SRK's voice. SRK according to me has doner a pathetc job in the movie, he was again trying to be KING KHAN Rather than Don (however his all time best performance I would rate will be Swades)  Farhan Akhtar also has done an okay job, the film at mani instances looks as it is going n in intallments or rather I would say that it was made up of multiple skits, maybe a better ediyoer would have helped,

What I really liked about the movie is the sudden twist in the story, which is also a mystery, and farhan akhtar has done a good derectorial job after the interval.

Movie: Zindaggi Rocks Compliment the user
Overall Rating
While I was watching the movie I asked this question several times to myself is this movie by the same director who made movies like Dushman?
This movie is a real disaster, Sushmita's acting might be good at times but the whole movie is about crying, yes I would rather call it crying and wont term it as a sad movie, a sad movioe is something like Anand. a regular story told badly would be my answer to the movie, well I cant tell anything more than this as I walked off during the interval when the movie got really heavy!
