Teree Sang is copied from the Korean movie 'Jenni, Juno' and a host of other Hindi movies. Maahi (Sheena Shahabadi), a 15 year old rich, bubbly girl becomes friends with Kabir (Ruslaan Mumtaz), a 17 year old teenager from a lower middle class family. On a camping trip on New Year's Eve, the drunken young couple gets into a physical relationship and Maahi becomes pregnant. Maahi decides to keep her child and the rest of the story is how they go about it.

The movie shows 15 and 17 year olds drinking and parents not even bothering if kids don't show up at night. Satish Kaushik and Sushmita Mukherjee, who play Kabir’s parents, don't even care if their son has not shown up at home for two days and don't even try to search for their kids after they elope. The kids are so casual even after having a physical relationship and Sheena emotionally blackmails her mother (Neena Gupta) to let her elope. Kabir and Sheena do menial jobs but live in a nice mansion that is conveniently available for them. They have toys and everything else and have no problems wearing the nicest clothes

Teree Sang: A kidult lovestory
Aug 8, 2009

Taree Sang: It’s a badly mixed between Hollywood flick Juno and Preity Zinta’s Kya Kehna with Bollywood’s done-to death mantra – rich girl and poor boy in love.  The film, with the tagline ‘a kidult love story’, is about a teenage love with their sex life that leads to premature pregnancy.  Even though it has a social massage but quite unlike Juno, this film falters in all the aspects. Did we just compare it to Juno? Oh sorry, its Director made it loud much before the movie was released saying, “it’s not at all a remake of Juno”.   Actors like Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher and Rajat Kapoor also fail to make this Satish Kaushik’s extended- condom-commercial-type movie a decent watch.  Give it a thought. Rich couple Rajat Kapoor and Neena Gupta’s daughter Mahi (Sheena Shahabadi) be friends with poor Satish Kaushik and Sushmita Mukherjee’s son Kabir aka Kukko (Ruslaan Mumtaz). Here comes the best part of the film, it keeps the boring love formulas of Bollywood intact – which is why the Mahi and Kukko’s friendship turns into a love-affair. They get intimate under the influence of alcohol (or under the influence of Juno!) and get Maahi gets pregnant. The drama begins when Rajat Kapoor opposes his daughter’s wish to keep the baby. Wonder why Bollywood’s first official un-wed mom Neena Gupta wasn’t given a strong role there? After directing Himesh Reshammiya starrer Karzz, something happened to Satish Kaushik. After all, he came up with a film that makes you cry with its jokes and laugh with its melodrama. Plus the unnecessary social message – perhaps, parents are comfortable taking their teenagers to sex education classes than to this movie.Debutants Sachin-Jigar due is the only saving grace as far as the music goes – while Anu Malik and Bappi Lahiri’s guest numbers are as irritating as ever! Clinton and Dominique Cerejo gave a refreshing tone to its opening song 'I will be there for you'. As a whole, the movie was below average, despite the fact that it had a strong story line and acted by brilliant actors. We would say go for it if you have absolutely nothing to do this weekend.

A potential Hit plot is underplayed fearing social opposition.

Satish Kaushik returns with his new directorial venture, tackling the sensitive issue of “Minor Pregnancy” on screen. Though the same plot has been seen earlier in “Kya Kehna” and “Juno” too, but still Satish manages to present it with his own fresh approach and true to life simplicity. However, in order to make it less controversial, he uses the same old bollywood formulas in the later half which deprives the movie from becoming a worth praising masterpiece.

The movie introduces a fresh lead pair, having the looks of your next door friends. And they both rightly suit the roles of young teenagers going to school, who still have to discover the meaning of sex and its consequences. The first half brilliantly shows the start of their affair, their secret meetings and the night which puts them both in a deep trouble. The director sensitively captures their tender moments without going overboard to the limits of vulgarity. That really makes you feel for the young couple and the movie starts growing on you till the intermission.

But post interval, the problems start cropping up, breaking the mood set by the first half. From here on the movie leaves it realistic path and moves on to the good old Bollywood formula where the love couple runs away and starts living in an old house somewhere on a Hill station. And from there on you start remembering “Love Story”, “Maine Pyar Kiya”, “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak” and many more such love tales seen before. The real issue of “Minor Preganancy” takes a back seat and no one talks about that as a serious concern after intermission till we reach the final 15 minutes of the movie. The climax finishes off the legal issue in a court room drama written weirdly without any interesting justifications.

So, where the first half makes you feel this can be a Hit, the second half comes and reduces it to a just above average movie talking about a relevant social problem. Performance wise, both the debutants, Ruslaan & Sheena look cute and perform well too. But the chances of their becoming a youth icon are quite less. Satish Kaushik & Sushmita Mukherjee playing the middle class parents of Ruslaan, are likable in their few funny sequences. Rajat Kapoor & Neena Gupta as the rich & famous parents of Sheena act perfectly. Anupam Kher gives a pleasant surprise in the climax as the Judge. But he couldn’t be impressive enough as the last minutes of the movie simply fail to leave an impact.

Musically, the movie has one worth mentioning number from Sachin Jigar and that’s “Morey Saiyaan”. The song is capable of leaving its mark even when played in the background. Camerawork is just fine capturing the city of “New Delhi” and its famous monuments as required. In fact the movie adds on to the list of recent Bollywood projects catching on the craze of “Delhi Based Movies”. Interestingly even its Production Banner has been named as “Karol Bagh Films & Entertainment”, based on a famous shopping area in Delhi.

In the end, I strongly feel that Satish Kaushik must have started this bold and unconventional project with great enthusiasm and conviction. But somewhere down the lane he got afraid of hurting the conventional Indian Social values and therefore decided to play it safe. The decision made out of social opposition fear, ruined this otherwise potential project, resulting in just an average drama, which could have been much better.

Bubbly but beaten theme
Aug 7, 2009

Story
Cast Performance
Soundtrack
Cinematography
This teenage romance looks fresh and tender in the first half of the movie, but quickly becomes half-baked. That is because Satish Kaushik in ‘Tere Sang’ promotes and supports the romantic theme throughout, but suddenly feels guilty and throws in a few lectures for sops.

Kabir Punjabi (Ruslan Mumtaaz) is a confused high school student, who falls in love with 15-year-old Maahi Puri (Sheena). She is the daughter of a busy advocate and his wife. Kabir and Maahi have a whirlwind romance, and she gets pregnant. They elope, but Kabir is arrested for rape and kidnapping. Finally, however, Maahi’s parents realize the error of their ways.

So what makes this film different from the countless teenage romances that have preceded it, from ‘Bobby’ to ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’? Nothing much. The rich girl-poor boy formula, the teenage romance, the bad, rich parents and the affectionate poor ones, the elopement and arrests have all been tried and beaten, and are hashed a bit more here. The focus has been on trying to make the movie look more modern. Hence, the age of the pair is pushed back, while there is a large dose of sex to make it make it seem trendy. There is also an unnecessary speech at the end, which fools nobody.

The young pair gives a laudable performance. Sheena, as the bubbly 10th standard girl essays her role naturally. She even has an endearing lisp, and a fit of giggles for everything, though she overdoes the vivacity at times. Ruslan Mumtaz lives his role of the clumsy, gawky teenager suffering from first love. The supporting cast is very interesting, and Neena Gupta manages to stand out.

The music is melodious and pleasing. The direction is neat in the first half, but loses confidence as it goes along.

Different Music Directors have Direct Teree Sang Music Differently
Aug 5, 2009

Author: Gian Compliment the user
Overall Rating

Teree Sang music and songs have got many directions. So, songs and music are not with rhythmic tuning. Read full review from this blog: Teree Sang music review

We have not great expectation with Teree Sang movie but I can sure about music. We already know that Satish Kaushik tries to give better songs and music in his any movie. We have great example of Tere Nam and Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai. He is the perfect man to introduce any movie in Indian society. He knows every choice of common people. He is perfect to produce thematic music and song in any movie.

Currently, I am listening online Teree Sang music and songs. “Rab Milya” is tuning in my headphone. It is a slow paced music with sad theme. The song creates an environment of loneliness. Music of the song is better than all. Lyrics and tuning of the music in the “Rab Milya” has been composed very carefully. The song is sung by Jigar. Many background voices as coming as music in the song. The song creates an echo which is the symptoms of open area.

We can’t expect same music in all songs. Teree Sang has also tried to make different every song and composed different music also for each song. “Miss Baabloo” is rap song of Teree Sang on fast music which is sung by Bappi Lahiri. It is inspired with high volume music also. The song creates an environment of enjoyment. “Teree Sang disko... Teree Sang long drive… Teree Sang chatting… Teree Sang dating… everything in Teree Sang.” The song is perfect to show the meaning of the movie. In this song Punjabi Bhangra has also been introduced as music. Ultimately, rap is effective than everything in this song.

“Leja leja” is the song of Master Saleem and Jahnvi Shrimankar. The song starts with blowing music and creates a boring environment of “Piya… Piya… Piya… Leja… Leja… Teree Sang Piya…” The song is based on the old music when a lover and beloved sing a song for each other. Every word, whatever they have enjoyed together, has been proposed in this song. Music in this song has tried to create a great sensation but it is not succeed.

“Laal Quile Ke Peeche” song in Teree Sang is again ready to tell something about Delhi. It is actually Delhi rap. Everything about whole Delhi in this song has been tried to put on the rap music. This type of song and music can be given only Anu Malik. The song is sung by Shaan and Anmol Malik. The song will get popularity due to Delhi.

“Chal Mera Haath Pakad Le” is much enjoying song. The song has been composed on the same music of “Miss Baabloo”. Anmol Malik is the singer of this song. The song starts with rock music which is perfect for the Teree Sang characters. The song is also inspired with Punjabi Bhangra music.

“Tere Bin” song is opposite of Teree Sang. “Teree Bin… Teree Bin… Tanha Man hai… Teree Bin… Teree Bin… Khali Man hai…” The song has tried to show the critical situations of the movie. Music of the song has also tried to give unhappily situations but all are failed again. Singers Raja Hasan and Sumedha Karmahe cry much but they are not succeed because words of the song are very old which come in our day-to-day life...
