Busy boy Akshay Kumar
He returned from Singapore earlier this week but instead of enjoying the summer vacations with his family, Akshay has started work on Vipul Shahâ??s Action Replay in Karjat.
Says a source close to Akshay, â??One would expect Akshay to take a break on his return from Singapore where he was shooting De Dhana Dhan but the dedicated, workaholic actor has started shooting for Vipul Shahâ??s Action Replay already, even as Aishwarya Rai is at the Cannes Film Festival. He is staying at Karjat because traveling to and fro all the time is inconvenient. The shooting will continue till mid-June. Ash will join them when she returns from Cannes. In June, he will be attending the IIFAs with his family as well. He will also finish his small commitments such as promo songs of De Dhana Dhan during that month.â??
There was confusion regarding his arrest for the alleged â??obsceneâ?? act at the Lakme Fashion Week where his wife Twinkle unbuttoned his jeans at the Leviâ??s show. Some reports said that he was arrested, while some said he was not arrested even though he went to the police station. Our source clarifies, â??Like any law abiding citizen, Akshay went to the police station and completed some formalities because that is what one has to do when a complaint is filed against them. Akshay didnâ??t do anything wrong so he didnâ??t pay a fine and was not arrested.â??
Blue, Kambakkht Ishq and De Dhana Dhan are Akshay Kumarâ??s confirmed releases this year.

Director Vipul Amrutlal Shah is ensuring that Akshay Kumar gets top luxuries while shooting his film Action Replay .
Akshay, doubtlessly one of the top stars of Hindi film industry, is being pampered by Shah nowadays. A helicopter has been arranged to help Akshay reach the shooting spot on time.
And for a 40-day shooting schedule, Akshay will get a lavish seven-bedroom bungalow sprawled over four acres of land. To top it, the bungalow has a functioning gymnasium and a swimming pool. Since Shah knows Akshayâ??s preferences well, he has also installed a home theatre system in case Akshay feels like catching up on movies

Ravichandran to produce Jackie Chan's film
Ravichandran is in talks with Jackie Chan to produce a film that the great comic martial arts hero will be acting in.
'Aascar' Ravichandran rose to fame by distributing Jackie Chan's films, especially in the South. Even before Ravichandran's face became known to the general public, the logo of his distribution house (a statuette resembling the Oscar statuette) was easily recognizable on any Jackie Chan film screened in the South. Recently, 'Aascar' Ravichandran faced quite a bit of trouble when he was dragged to court over the resemblance of his statuette to the famous Oscar and the name of his production company Oscar Productions too became a bone of contention. Consequently, Ravichandran changed the spelling to Aascar, citing numerological reasons and the logo was modified. Now, insiders say that Ravichandran is in talks with Jackie Chan to produce a film starring the great comic martial arts hero. A while ago, it was reported in Tollywood circles that 'Aascar' Ravichandran was planning to produce a Jackie Chan-Akshay Kumar film on a budget of around Rs. 550 crores

'You will see me swimming with sharks'
Ajit Jain in Toronto
Akshay Kumar is in high spirits. His film, Singh is Kinng was screened at the ongoing Toronto International Film Festival, on Sunday.
The actor, who turns 41 today, was all smiles, as he made his way on the red carpet on Simcoe Street leading to the main entrance of the Roy Thomspon Hall, where the film was screened. "I feel very honoured, as this is my first film at the festival, which showcases Indian cinema. I'm very thankful," he added.
The actor arrived in Toronto on Sunday morning from Bangkok, where he is shooting for his next film Blue. Before he left, he gave an exclusive interview to rediff.com. Excerpts:
What is Blue about?
You will be seeing me swimming with sharks in the movie. How's that for a story!
When will we see that? Could you tell us about the cast?
We are hoping for an early release next year. There is Lara Dutta and Sanjay Dutt.
It seems you like Bangkok way too much...
Bangkok is a great place. It is very close to India and people are so nice there. The government is film-friendly too. And yes, it happens to be a place where I was a mere chef at one time.
Would you, in hindsight, say your decision to learn martial arts in Bangkok was instrumental in giving your first break in the movie industry?
Not my first break but martial arts certainly complimented my overall strength to become an actor.
(awww that's the l'l chap he kissed)
'It was great to be walking on the same red carpet that Brad Pitt'
Is it tough to break into Bollywood?
It is always tough to break into any business. If you believe in yourself, that's half the battle won. It's tough but good and talented people succeed in any business.
How did you feel when Singh is Kinng was chosen for the Toronto International Film Festival?
I feel very honoured. As you know, this was my first film in any festival. I am very thankful.
How did you feel to be invited to the prestigious Roy Thompson Hall?
It was a great honour. The atmosphere inside the hall was unbelievable. There were many fans outside cheering me from all directions. Friends and the media was there too. I didn't believe it was all actually happening.
How did you feel walking the red carpet?
It was the best feeling of my life as the Toronto film festival is the best in the world. It was great to be walking on the same red carpet that Brad Pitt did a night before.
All 1,800 tickets were sold even though this is the fourth week since Singh is Kinng was released.
The movie had record collections all over the world and it has made history. The screening at the film festival was like finishing with a bang. Yes, I heard over 1,800 people came to see the film. It's the best feeling anyone can have.
In the picture: Akshay is surrounded by fans on the red carpet at the main entrance of the Roy Thompson hall. With him is close friend Ajay Virmani.

'Sikhs are shown in a very positive light in Singh is Kinng'
You're in Toronto for a day?
Yes, I flew in the morning and I am leaving tonight. It was well worth it. There was an event organised by the Film Festival as a salute to the Indian cinema followed by a reception organised by my dear friend and 'dad' Ajay Virmani. It was a great event and I enjoyed meeting many great people.
After the showing of the film, a friend who is a Sikh, said that Sikhs are being projected here as drug dealers and law breakers. Do you buy this argument?
That's not right. I have never heard of these types of comments before. Everyone is entitled to have their opinions. Most people I have talked to believe in Singh is Kinng, where Sikhs are shown in a very positive light. If some people look for the dirty and negative side, that's what they will find. You will find plenty of positive messages in this film.
What did you think of the Toronto Film Festival?
It is great organisation run by great people. I met Cameron Baily, co-director of TIFF. He is a super man. I was welcomed and truly given first class treatment. I wish they invite me again. I can now see why this festival is considered the best.
'Mr Amitabh Bachchan is a great human being'
Do you think of the days when you didn't have a few hundred rupees in your pocket to buy a book on acting?
I am very thankful to God, my fans and my family for their unconditional support.
Are you now on the pinnacle of your acting career?
There's always more to do in life. One can never sit back and relax. We have to continually rediscover ourselves.
I need to continually improve myself in every area. I have achieved a fair amount but I still have a lot more to accomplish, a lot more to learn and offer.
You performed in Toronto in the Unforgettable tour with the Bachchans...
It was great sharing the stage with Mr Amitabh Bachchan. He's a legend and a great human being.

Jackie Chan and Akshay Kumar to star in Indian flick
Posted In: Akshay Kumar , Jackie Chan , LatestNews . By BombayGossip
The new King of Bollywood, Akshay Kumar, is getting offers from everybody on Earthâ?¦ with the latest being ace Martial Arts expert and top Hollywood and Chinese artist Jackie Chan.
Apparently, Jackie has approached Akshay and has asked him if he could star with him in a future film of his.
It seems that Jackie was impressed with Akshayâ??s recent hit Singh Is Kinng and especially his song with top American rapper Snoop Dogg. Once Akshay found out about this, he got on the phone to producers Ashtavinayak, who immediately offered to make the film.
A source states, â??It is not known who will direct the film, but the buzz is that it will be a known international filmmaker. The project is slated to begin when Chan is free. Unlike The Myth, which has a strong Chinese sense in the script, this movie will be on the lines of Rush Hour where two cultures come together. In the past, Akki has openly said that heâ??d love to work with Chan and this opportunity comes at the right time.â??

organising a show of Manoj's play Chanakya for the family of late constable Tukaram Ombale, the actor promptly sent a cheque of Rs 5 lakh for Ombale's family.
That's not all. Akshay has also taken the responsibility of educating Ombale's younger daughters Vaishali and Bharti. Ombale lost his life while trying to nab terrorist Ajmal Qasab on the night of 26/11.
Although Akshay did not attend the play as he was busy, he made it a point to send his sister Alka to attend the show. Alka met Tukaram's daughter Vaishali and gave her the cheque.
We tried to get in touch with one of Ombale's elder daughters, Vandana whose husband Rajendra said, "Yes, Akshayji has given us a cheque of Rs 5 lakh. He has also offered financial assistance for Vaishali's as well as Bharti's education. Vaishali is doing her B.Ed while Bharti is a final year B.Com student."
And have they spoken to Akshay after receiving the cheque? "Unfortunately, we have not been able to speak to Akshayji as he has been very busy," said Rajendra.
Manoj Joshi said, "Although Tukaram only had a lathi to fight the terrorist, he did not care for his life even though he knew that Qasab had deadly weapons. Tukaram's bravery should not go unnoticed. Akshay has done what few people would do. I have newfound respect for him."

Akshay Kumar and Jackie Chan in "Rush Hour" Part 4?September 09 2008 15:55 PST
Are Jackie Chan and Akshay Kumar set to star in the next "Rush Hour"? Well they may not be starring in the fourth installment of "Rush Hour" but rumor is they are going to star in an Indian version of "Rush Hour"! Apparently Jackie was the first to reach out to Akki, as he was impressed by Akshay's performance in "Singh is Kinng" and liked his track with Snoop Dogg. In the past Akshay has said that he'd love to work with Jackie and it looks like his wish is coming true!
So the King of action in Bollywood and the King of action in Hollywood come together... This should definitely be one to watch out for!

Shekhar Suman apologises to Akshay for 'Chandni Chowk...' comments
Mumbai (IANS): TV celebrity Shekhar Suman, who panned Akshay Kumar and his latest release "Chandni Chowk To China" as the"worst film made in the history of Indian cinema", has apologised to the star.
"It was never my intention to offend Akshay. And if I've done so then I've no hesitation in saying sorry. Akshay is too much of a good soul for me to hurt him. He should've realised my comments had nothing personal about them," Shekhar told IANS.
After watching "Chandni Chowk To China", Shekhar apparently said: "It will go down as the worst film ever made in Indian history. What an utter waste of Rs.400 that I spent on my ticket. I want a refund of all Akshay films that I've seen. The film is not just disappointing and amateurish but offends one's sensibility as well. I declare January 16 to be declared National Mourning in India, as it's the day cinema died."
"I'm upset with Akshay for doing such a film. He's lost it after seeing success. Akshay was better when he wasn't in the race... now his brains have turned topsy-turvy. I think Shah Rukh must be having the last laugh... Akshay said somewhere that SRK's not in the race but he (Akki) is already at the finishing line," Shekhar had said.
The actor says he is taken aback by the backlash to his tongue-lash.
"I never knew my opinion would matter so much. I reacted as an outraged viewer. I've always admired Akshay Kumar's resilient climb from the bottom rung to the top of ladder. In fact, I tell my son Adhyayan that Akshay Kumar is a role model to follow. Self-made superstar."
Sadly a section of Akshay's supporters, including the "Chandni Chowk To China" director Nikhil Advani, saw Shekhar's comments as below-the-belt attempts to get publicity for Adhyayan's release "Raaz 2". The film released Friday.
But Shekhar laughed off this accusation.
"My son is talented enough to do without such cheap props. We don't need to use big names to get noticed. Adhyayan's performance in "Raaz 2" will speak for itself. I'd say exactly what I did about 'Chandni Chowk...' even if my son's film wasn't releasing."

Most of the awards are rigged: Akshay Kumar
â??Leaving 2-3 awards that are credible, all the others are riggedâ??, said Akshay Kumar in an interview to Swati Chaturvedi of Spicezee on her show â??Kahiye Janaabâ??. The actor, who recently stunned all after he refused to accept the best popular actor trophy stating that it rightfully belonged to Aamir, stated that he feels cornered and has no faith left in the industry awards.
Swati: There are three main speculations doing rounds about you-first that you like women, you were the highest taxpayer in 2008 and that you ghost direct films. How far are they true?
Akshay: They are mostly true. Yes, I do like women. I am a hot-blooded man. I appreciate beauty and there is nothing wrong in that. Itâ??s just natural for a man to like a good-looking woman and the same goes for women.
As for the tax payer news goes, itâ??s very much true. I do pay tax and I am proud of it. I have often been sent a letter of appreciation for being so genuine in my attempts.
But the rumour that I ghost direct is absolutely false. If I had edited others roles and ghost directed films the same filmmakers wouldnâ??t have worked with me again. And if you see my record all my directors have always wanted to work with me again. I have never cared to justify to such speculations, because I never felt the need to do so. I have never done anything like this because I havenâ??t been brought up like that. I donâ??t meddle in other peopleâ??s business.
Swati: How does it feel when you are called metrosexual, trisexual etc?
Akshay: Actually, I have never paid attention to all these tags and names. I am flooded with work. My hands are full with films and interviews. If I pay attention to such things then I wonâ??t have time to work. Itâ??s been 18-20 years since I have been in this industry and itâ??s been a record that as soon as my shoots finish I head back home. I have never overstayed on the sets to gossip.
Swati: Your rise from Chandni Chowk to Bollywood has been remarkable. From where do you drive your inspiration?
Akshay: I have learnt a lot from my father. He has been my biggest inspiration. He was an accountant in UNICEF and was very professional in his conduct. But it was marshal arts that made me disciplined. I learnt marshal arts in Bangkok and picked up a lot of their etiquettes. They are very humble and grounded. However, after a few years in the industry, I stopped being humble. But again now, I try to be as grounded and levelheaded as I was earlier.
Swati: Would you say you have worked very hard to be where you are today?
Akshay: Well, yes I have worked for success. But frankly speaking after 120 films even a donkey can start acting. However, I have learnt a lot. When I entered the industry, I was naïve. I had no clue about how it functions. I use to give auditions enacting Amitabh Bachchanâ??s dialogues.
Swati: Blogging is the latest trend in Bollywood. Why donâ??t you blog?
Akshay: I donâ??t read blogs, and I donâ??t know how to write them. Personally, I had rather meet my fans than talk to them via blogs. I remember during the London premiere of â??Chandni Chowk to Chinaâ?? there were thousands who assembled on the roads to meet me and I made sure I spend time with them.
Swati: Did you ever think you would be this successful?
Akshay: Forget success, I never even thought that I would be in this field. My first film was a super flop. But my family was delighted. I feel that I am very blessed. And I have always said this and would like to say it again that itâ??s the blessing of my parents that have helped me achieve such highs. One should respect their parents like God and this has been written in our scriptures like Mahabharat and Ramayan. Just that we donâ??t pay attention to such teachings.
Swati: Do you think that good-looking actors are not taken as serious actors?
Akshay: No I donâ??t think that they are not taken seriously. Many good-looking actors have won awards. Now itâ??s a different thing that I havenâ??t bagged a best actor trophy. And I am neither sad nor happy about it.
Swati: How seriously do you take awards?
Akshay: Initially I use to feel that bagging an award is a very prestigious. But now I know how these awards work. These days there are about 15-20 award nights and anyone who attends them is given an award. In fact now I get calls where organisers promise me an award if I agree to perform at the venue.
Swati: What do you say to such offers?
Akshay: I just tell them to pay me for my performance and they can give the award to its worthy winner. So this way everyone is happy.
Swati: So, doesnâ??t it matter to you that you havenâ??t won a best actor award?
Akshay: See itâ??s very unfair. If I do a comic role in a film then I am awarded the best comic actor trophy. I ask why? If I am playing the main lead even in a comic flick then I should be given a best actor award. Why isnâ??t an actor, who plays a romantic role awarded the best romantic actor award?
Best actor means whoever performs well in any kind of film. Now If I am given a best comic actor award thatâ??s absolutely unfair.
Swati: So are you saying that all awards are tampered?
Akshay: Leaving 2-3 awards that are still just, all the others are rigged.
Swati: How does your son react to your films?
Akshay: My son recently saw â??Chandni Chowk to Chinaâ?? and he was very delighted. He said it reminded him of Tom and Jerry. For him I am like a cartoon.
Swati: What are your aspirations for your son?
Akshay: As of now I have none. He is free to pursue his dreams and do as he wishes.
Swati: Would you like to say anything for your wife?
Akshay: I just want to say that Tina you are the most beautiful woman. I am yet to meet a woman who is as pretty as you

"If a star could make a movie hit, why would you need a director?" - Anees Bazmee
By Joginder Tuteja, January 27, 2009 - 15:06 IST
Chandni Chowk To China hasn't worked but Anees Bazmee doesn't blame Akshay Kumar for that. Someone who has always maintained that a star alone cannot make or break a film, Anees Bazmee has always believed that there are number of factors other than the presence of a star that impress an audience. Maintaining the same comments as he did after a successful Singh Is Kinng and a flop Tashan, he continues in the same vein when the topic of Chandni Chowk To China comes up.
In a candid conversation with Joginder Tuteja, he maintains though that Akshay Kumar is too hardworking a man to be bogged down by one failure and his future films would make him wipe away one aberration that goes by the name of Chandni Chowk To China.
Chandni Chowk To China hasn't performed at the box office. A setback for Akshay Kumar?
Come on, this is such a ridiculous piece of gossip that I am seeing floating around ever since the first paid preview of Chandni Chowk To China got over. How could one film make or break a star, and that too someone as huge as Akshay Kumar. He has reached the position where you do expect him to deliver in every outing of his. But is it humanly possible? You do make mistakes, you do err and this film could well have been an error in judgment on his part. But that's ok, he is a hardworking man and the last thing you want to say is that his positioning in the industry is threatened.
But everyone believed that the star presence of Akshay Kumar would be good enough to pull in audience in hordes for at least the opening week?
If the presence of a star was good enough for a film to succeed, why would you need a story writer or a director? Why not just take a good looking guy? Why would a star himself ask for a story from the filmmaker? Won't it just suffice for him to say that 'Chalo, I am on board and so we don't need anything else'? He may as well make a movie all by himself, isn't it? There is a definite role for anyone in the process of filmmaking and then you have the captain of the boat, the director. Most of all, he certainly has to perform and bring everything together for the success of the film.
Something that you maintained in case of Tashan, Welcome and Singh Is Kinng too...
That's right. Tashan was the best available set up that any filmmaker could have dreamt of. There were A-list actors like Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, the music was popular (Vishal-Shekhar), the banner was huge (Yash Raj Films), the hype was there and we all saw what happened to it. Agar story hi nahi hogi to aapke sab star kya karenge? On the other hand, Welcome and Singh Is Kinng worked because though they too were out and out commercial flicks; there still was something definite happening throughout the narrative. They weren't just being gimmicky or piggy banking on a star's popularity.
What happens for Akshay from here on?
I am no one to comment, he is experienced enough to know what he has to do. He has been around for a couple of decades and knows how to handle such situations. See, he has so much going for him, a) He is very hard working, something that is his biggest strength, b) He is good looking and only getting better with age and c) He can do everything that a mainstream Bollywood hero is required to do.
Please go onâ?¦
He can do everything. You want him to do comedy, he will. You want him to do action, he will. He can do drama, perform well on emotional scenes, romance his heroines. In a nutshell, he can do everything that is expected from a 'masala' hero. Don't forget that he is the same man who has been the darling of the masses and given so many back to back money spinners over the years. He has achieved so much in life in such a short time period. You would be foolish to write him off.
That's right. And in any case he has biggies like Kambakth Ishq, Blue, Housefull, Tasveer 8X10 and De Dana Dan coming up...
Yes, an impressive line up but again a word of caution here. If a film is bad, no one can help it. Neither an actor nor a star. I just hope and want that his films are well made indeed. Akshay bahut mehnati ladka hai and I am sure he will have a great run at the box office from here!

Akshay Kumar may displace Shah Rukh and Salman Khan
Date : 27/01/2009 Rating :
Newsvine Delicious Spurl MIXX Posted on 1/26/2009 10:33:19 PM by Icemissa
Akshay Kumar is surely is fast emerging as a strong contender to Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan for the overseas heartthrobsâ?¢ tag.
After the strong showing in the overseas circuit of Garam Masala , Deewane Hue Pagal and Dosti - Friends Forever , all of which starred Akshay, his ââ?¬Ë?intense loverââ?¬â?¢ act in his latest film Humko Deewana Kar Gaye has also stormed the box office in the United Kingdom, thus underlining the versatile actors emergence as the "new star on the overseas circuit".
The film, which released all over the world on April 14, opened to record theatre collections. In fact, the opening day collections of the film, which stars Katrina Kaif in the female lead and the sultry Bipasha Basu in a supporting role, in the United Kingdom were a staggering 50,000 UK Pounds (Rs 35 Lakh) from just 38 cinema screens.
Besides the stupendous opening day collections, the film also earned 16,000 UK Pounds (Rs 11 lakh) from paid preview shows held a day prior to its theatrical release.
Download Shah Rukh Khan Wallpaper Download Shah Salman Khan Wallpaper
The total collections earned by Humko Deewana Kar Gaye from its previews and theatre earnings during the 4-day Easter weekend were 219,981 UK Pounds (Rs 1.7 crore) from 38 cinema screens, placing it at the tenth position in the UK top Ten, alongside Hollywood films like Ice Age: The Meltdown, Scary Movie 4, Inside Man and The Shaggy Dog.
What is more, the film had the third highest per-screen average of 4,603 UK Pounds among the films figuring in the UK Top ten, behind only Ice Age: The Meltdown and Scary Movie 4.
In terms of its earnings during the opening weekend, the film ranks above Hollywood films like Hostel, The Pink Panther, Yours, Mine and Ours, The Squid And The Whale and The Dark Momentum. Trade sources say the opening taken by Humko Deewana Kar Gaye is the highest ever for a solo Akshay -starrer in the UK. In fact, the opening of the film was even bigger than that of Andaaz , Akshays previous film with director Raj Kanwar .
Recent years have seen Akshay emerge as the new star on the overseas circuit. Films starring the actor like Garam Masala, Deewane Hue Pagal and, more recently, Dosti have proved to be hits in the United Kingdom.
Of the above, the success of Dosti is especially remarkable considering that the film opened to a lukewarm response from Indian audiences. Which only goes to prove what a big draw Akshay is emerging at the box office.

Akshay is the fittest actor in Bollywood: Suniel Shetty
He himself has a well-toned body and exercises regularly, but actor-turned-producer Suniel Shetty says when it comes to the fittest body in tinsel town, Akshay Kumar wins hands down as he has maintained his physique throughout his 18-year career.
"Akshay has the fittest body in Bollywood, and all these years we have seen him getting better day by day," Suneil Shetty told us.
"He is very flexible, lean and fit and to maintain this level of fitness he has worked out with dedication and discipline over the years," said Suniel, who was in the capital to launch a gym.
Suniel, who is currently working with Akshay in 'De Dana Dan', teamed up with the action hero for the first time in 'Hum Hain Bemisaal' followed by hits like 'Mohra', 'Hera Pheri' and 'Dhadkan'.
Suniel added that Akshay does all his stunts himself and doesn't think twice before jumping from a cliff unlike other actors.
"I know so many actors who claim that they do their stunts themselves, but the scenario is completely opposite. To know the reality, you should check with stunt masters. That's why I believe fitness just doesn't come with appearance, it is something that is inside you," Suniel said.
Akshay entered Bollywood in 1991 with 'Saugandh' and earned the action hero tag with movies like 'Khiladi' and 'Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi'.
Suniel feels it is a good trend to see stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan displaying their six-pack-abs and eight-pack-abs for 'Om Shanti Om' and 'Ghajini' respectively, but adds that it would be even better if they are able to maintain that physique.
"Body-building is not a difficult task; what in fact is tough is to maintain that sculpted body. It is really a good sign that actors are giving due attention to their fitness levels, but the most important thing is to see how long they can sustain that look," the actor said.
"The other good thing that has come out of this whole eight-pack-abs promotion is that people now want to achieve a certain level of fitness," Suniel said.
But Suniel has a word of caution for people who want to acquire eight-pack-abs.
"Fitness necessarily does not mean achieving eight-pack-abs, it requires lot of dedication, focus and good eating habits - all this can help you in getting a perfect body. But one should not go in for shortcuts like steroids because it can be harmful in the long run," Suniel added.
The actor candidly admits that when he forayed into films, all he had was his well-built muscular body and that fetched him roles. Now after spending 16 years in the industry, he feels his achievement is the result of his sincerity and dedication towards his work.
Suniel turned producer in 2003 and his Popcorn Motion Pictures Ltd has produced films like 'Khel', 'Rakht' and 'Bhagam Bhag'.
The actor will next be seen in Inder Kumar's comic caper 'Daddy Cool', Anthony D'Souza's 'Blue' and Priyadarshan's comedy flick 'De Dana Dan'.

honour.
"I cannot hide how overwhelmed and speechless I am, for this unexpected recognition of my work, my passion, but I must say that it's all because of the people, my audiences I am only here today because of them," Akshay said.
"I will cherish this as one of the most memorable moments in my life and my family's life. I really cannot express how touched I am," he said.
He said his fans were his courage and strength. Akshay said that he would continue to show his love to his fans as they made him the proud Indian that he is.
The actor's winning streak at the box office was recently stopped by the failure of Chandni Chowk to China .
Over the years, Akshay, whose real name is Rajiv Bhatia, had transformed for an action star to comedy with his films like Namastey London, Heyy Babyy, Welcome, Bhul Bhullaiya, Singh is Kinng earning nearly Rs 500 crore at the box office.
At a television awards function, where he received one for the best host of a reality show, the actor had lamented that he had bagged one award within a year of appearing on television while despite being in the film industry for 19 years; he did not get a single popular film award.
Recently, he was given the 'Best Actor Popular Choice Award' for Singh is Kinng at an awards function, but he dedicated the award to Aamir Khan for his performance in Ghajini and left the stage without collecting the trophy.

After giving notable performances in all his films, Akshay has reached to the top slots of Bollywood. Khiladi Kumar has proved to be a champ in competition with all the Khans of Bollywood.
Akshay Kumar is on career high these days. Akki, who believes in giving total entertainment to his audience, will be seen in different roles in all his forthcoming films. He lent his voice first time in an animation film Jumbo. He played a cook in action-adventure-comedy Chandni Chowk To China.
While in Eight By Ten, Akshay Kumar plays a psychological superhero with amazing mental powers. He can look into a personâ??s past or future by just staring at their photographs. Kambhakt Ishq is about the life of a stuntman played by Akki. He plays a fisherman based in the Bahamas in Ashtavinayakâ??s forthcoming film Blue.
He is all set to give some interesting variety of the films and characters in all his films. He loves to experiment and take risks like for his films. He has performed some dangerous underwater stunts for underwater action thriller Blue.
He has proves to be method actor like Amir Khan who loves to experiment different looks for his films. Akki too has different looks in all his forthcoming films. He doesnâ??t restrict himself to acting; he is actively part of the promotion of his films. He believes that film promotion plays crucial part in the success of a film and just like SRK who has smart sense of film business; Akki has promoted his last few releases like Bhullaiyya, Welcome and Singh Is King big ways that reflected well at the box office.
Not just that, Akki is as popular as Salman Khan among all the age groups. In fact he is more popular than Sallu as result of that Akki replaced Sallu in Thumps Up commercial. Isnâ??t it commendable that coming from a non filmy background Akshay has created niche for himself in the film industry.

The actor's winning streak at the box office was recently stopped by the failure of Chandni Chowk to China .

De Dhana Dhan's climax deals with the 2006 tsunami tragedy.
As a director and storyteller, Priyadarshan's forte has been his rip-roaring comedies. All that might just change (to a certain degree) in his next titled De Dhana Dhan.
Reveals a source, "The film does have the tsunami as a subtext in the climax but it also has the trademark Priyan treatment throughout. Also, the Hera Pheri team reunites in De Dhana Dhan and one can expect the wackiness that comes with it. Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Sunil Shetty, Paresh Rawal are all part of this film produced by Ratan Jain of Venus. The unit moves base to Singapore after completing the Mumbai shooting stint."
Producer Ratan Jain reveals, "It is a comedy film and is not based on the tsunami. The tsunami occurs only in the film's climax.
Meanwhile, as the cast of De Dhana Dhan shoot the flood scenes at Film City submerged in tonnes of water, almost all the lead actors are falling sick. Being in water all day hasn't damped the determination of the cast, though. They are still shooting round-the-clock to finish the important schedule even though the threat of pneumonia looms large.
Ailing actors
Says a source, "The cast members are either down with cold, fever or cough. It is tough being in the water for so long." Admits Jain, "It is true that the actors in the movie are going under the weather after shooting in the water but that's part and parcel of the film and I have over 24 artistes in total and they are all professionals."
Kat's hero... literally
Last week, Katrina Kaif injured her leg while shooting for De Dhana Dhan at Film City .
According to cast members, Kat was doing an underwater seqence with Akshay Kumar when her foot got stuck.
Says a source, "As she tried to free herself her leg got more entangled. She tried to scream for help. But because of the noise on the sets, no one heard the screams."
Finally it was co-star Akshay Kumar who heard her. Says the source, "Akshay quickly swam to her and got her out." Kat's leg was bruised. "It could have been worse," shudders the source. "But tentanus shots and sedatives have eased her pain." Katrina downplays the incident. "It was nothing serious. I just hurt my leg."
