An emotional tale, the story is about two childhood buddies Balakrishna (Jagapathi Babu) and Ashok Kumar (Rajini) and Balu does not stop at anything to make his friend happy. As life would have it, they take different paths and Balu becomes a barber in the small town of Siricilla. He is happily married to Devi (Meena) and has three children. However, his finances are dry and he is often led to the door of Dharmaraju (Dharmavarapu), the financier. On the other hand, Balu has tough competition from the more smart and clever Kantha Rao (Sunil) who has a saloon right on the opposite side. Balu is a man of pure ethics and his self respect and honesty are his only soul. His bumpy ride continues until one day there is news that a film shooting is going to happen in their place and the hero of the film is Superstar Ashok Kumar (Rajinikanth). The news spreads like wildfire and Balu knows this but then given his position he hesitates to show himself. On the other hand, folks around get to know the friendship of Balu and Ashok Kumar and in this process those who have been ridiculing him start doing favors for him only with the hope of meeting Ashok Kumar. But Balu has his own issues and soon the people start shunning him since he is not able to do what they want and even his own children start showing anger. What happens from there? Does Balu meet Ashok? Will Ashok recognize Balu? All this forms the rest of the story.
