I watched Hijack & A Wednesday simultaneously. so I decided to write about them them together also  . as both are made on topic of terrorism , are in essence thrillers , directed by debutants Shivdasani & Neeraj Pandey  , they have released on the same day. But there is  marked difference between the two .

While  Pandey makes a confident debut in this gripping thriller of a man who warns the commissioner of Police that he has planted five bombs in Mumbai city & demands the release of 4 terrorist . what happens next gets u completely off guard as  u aren’t expecting this at all . saying more on  the story will take away the enjoyment of watching the movie . strengthened by a tight script & allowing no props of songs - item numbers to take the interest away  a superb  thriller is created which keeps u on the edge of the seat & the climax is bold & different . even humor is added beautifully in this one

In complete opposite Hijack is everything that A Wednesday is not . u have item numbers , songs & the real story starts in the second half , even there the directors fails to strike as he is unable to capture any moments that the story provided in abundance . there are one or two moments in the movie that keep u interested , but they are not enough as they are spoilt by the childish handling of the subject in hand .

The same is the case of performances in both the movie the 2 veterans are superb only Naseer has the power to keep one glued on te screen while delivering along verbrose dialogue , in fact he is so good that may in the multiplex were clapping like front benchers in the single screen. Anupam is superb & he confrontation scene between the 2 is the highlight of the show . Jimmy Shergill as the hot headed cop is a powerhouse 7 Aamir is restraint as the cop who goes by the rules , even the cameos have performed extremely well from Deepal Shaw to Vj gaurav . in Hijack Shiney is the only knight of the armour . he tries but fails to rise above the childish script , the rest would have given tough competition in SrK-Saif Nareal awards for worst performances . but one guy who would sure take an award is the main villian who hams it up big time as if he is having a toothache Wednesday is better in technical dept as well right from fiery dialogues to slick editing , it scores everywhere

While A Wednesday is one of the finest thriller to have arrived , Hijack is just anoter average bollywoodish wso called no-brain fare .2 extreme sides of the same genre .  Mr Sivdasani take some classes to Mr pandey on script writing please 7 then make another movie .

This is a ripoff of movies like Executive decision and Zameen. Ofcourse it is an adaptation of the the INdian Airlines hijack episode although the disclaimer says otherwise. But there is no denial that each and every incident in the movies is based on this true story This movie has some additional elements like a father's love for his daughter and the extend rather the filmy extent to which he goes to save his daughter. It seems the movie has actually been shot in the plane it self because the background/sets look pretty realistic. Esha doel portrays the role of a Air hostess who helps shiney ahuja in rescuing his daughter and rest of the passengers and of course massacring the terrorist / hijackers. the flip side of this movie are the music number which are absolutely unnecessary in a thriller. You have this chick Kaveri Jha playing a cameo as Shiney's wife who apparently happens to be the sole causality of a previous hijack attempt. And at the end you have the usual filmy stuff the bad guys pointing guns at Shiney's daughter and our hero pull some out of the box tricks and saves the day. Shiney has improved a bit in the acting department. and a good attempt by a rookie director. Probably wait for the dvd rent it and then watch it!

I went to this movie only for Shiney Ahuja's killer killer smile and alas that was the only thing which was not there.

The movie is from the genre of Action- thriller,, its 80s revisited in a more sophisticated manner what with our hero , an engineer grounded coz of his own past dragons of mistake and deeds, takes entire hijackers single handedly. The fight he fights with hijjackers is actually his efforts to slain his own demons of past.

Dont look for logic please ! It will remind you of "Die Hards" and" Air Force One ", " Turbulance ". But you will eventually praise the ambitious effort of the indian director to try this extraordinary hollywoodish stuff.

Shiney is good ,, he always put lot of labour to execute the demand of the role. Esha as an Air hostess with guts is perfect.

The plot is shaky ,, the terrorist and their intentions are not so well defined , they lack conviction. The movie slides always towards shabbiness, the climax lacks the explosion of sighs and relief from the hijjacked passangers... c'mon they should have shown more gratitude.

All and all okayish movie.. kuch kaam nahi hai to watch it.
