I watched Dostana with lots of under expectations.Reasons: first as the story was out on blogs before even the movie was released,so I thought it would be a cheap gay comedy with jokes from movies like Hollywood spoofs or Marlon Brother movies,just in Hindi.Secondly,to be frank I never approved Abhishek as an actor.But as I watched the movie,Abi shut my mouth.He dominates from beginning to end.The producer/Directors who try to make him look amitabh should learn a lesson from this.remove bachan from his name,he still is an actor at his own and a great one.He is cute,natural and dominating throught out Dostana without a touch of Big B.This is a role his dad never did as the topic is so 2000's topic,so u see an actor working as him not like his dad.He is awesome and so natural that even priyanka's seduction is over shadowed by his cuteness and his spontaneous dialogue delivery..The jokes are different too,not the repeated gay ones..I should appreciated the screenplay that the dialogues not favour gayism and dont make fun of it either.Its decently shown that friendship is the winner,not sexual attraction.The direction is superb too..Now for John,after being overshadowed by Arshad Warsi twice.This time he does the job,though still abi is all over you when u watch each scene.That Kuch Kuch Hota Hai scene with Priyanka is cute.Now our girl Priyanka,she looks cute and acts well for the part though I still think for such a role,there was nothing challenging for her..Bobby deol just is plastic and worse of the lot..The songs are really of today and make you hum.Pardesi Girl,Maa Ka Laadla,I will be alright.I jusI watched Dostana after a lot of under expectations to be fair..First of all I thought it would be a cheap gay comedy (as story was out before release on Blogs) with jokes we usually hear in spoof english comedies or Marlon Brother movies but only in Hindi,Secondly I was never a fan of Abishek at all..But when the movie started.Abi took me by storm,rather shut my mouth as he dominated from beginning to end.The people making movies making him look like Big B should learn a lesson now.He is Abhishek alone without a Bachan name too,he can do it.Obviously this is something his dt cant chose which is better..So when u have such perfection in a movie..Watch it in a theater,Buy A Dvd and store it as prestigious part of Indian Cinema Collection..10/10 stars for the movie... |

This movie is a veryy very nice movie. Maybe a bit more targeted to younger audiences but nonetheless is a very creative and risky adventure. The movie has a lot of new comedy (so no cliched lines that you have heard already), and i have to say, the actors have such an AMAZING chemistry. This is one of those movies that will get you hooked, and after it is done, youll be wishing for more. PS - the music is also very good - JAANE KYUN DESI GIRL SHUT UP AND BOUNCE are my personal favorites =) |

Dude, dis is da kinda movie u go out wid ur frndz to hav a splendid eve.
Wonderfully handled emotions, the exact amount of fun and laugh, without overdoing anything.
The roles were gr8 and were excellently executed. Abhishek just takes ur breath away wid his acting, John, his testosterones fully pumped up, and the angel in the dark night, Priyanka, who never looked better, may actually delve you into believing that she is de most beautiful woman u'll ever see. Fully Paisa Vasool!! Well, I can't say much for those straight couples who went on 2 see it... But I ccouldn't care less, cuz I'm gay n happy all da way... |

well, the movie was definately nice....however, the gay part of it was a hoax... i was really thrilled when i found out that dostana was about a gay couple....a topic that has never been touched and really needs some limelight....when i saw the movie.....GAGAGAGA anyway, nice delivery from all the actors....priyanka's acting needs some refinement....direction was good overall... overall, well, worth watchin....just dont expect anything out of the ordinary....its just one of those movies that come and go....dont expect a sholay or godfather out of it.... and yea....our bollywood ppl need to do something about the music man....it SUCKS....sucks is not the word.... peace out \Jazz Baba/ killerqueen91@gmail.com |

This is a an exasperatingly extroverted gay romcom from the limited imagination of Karan Johar who has decided fit to take every funny joke regarding drag queens, homosexuals and straight women called fag hags and put it incoherently together in a malicious plagiarized version of Larry and Chuck get married..
It will be of no use to try to remind Bollywood that it is no problem being gay but it is a crime to be unimaginative and make sheer trashy comic enterprises out of Hollywood blunders and doubly so with crude and vulgar double entendres regarding both Indians and homosexuals.
This extroverted moronic piece is how 2 men of Indian origin in Miami pretend to be gay romantics to rent a room in an Indian Sindhi family household and that heralds this lunatic comic caper. One of the men is a supermodel with a pumped up ass and biceps with an underdeveloped torso called John Abraham and the other is the pretender drag queen as Abishek Bachchan who has clearly studied every act from the Indian community of hijras (Eunuch) as he plays a modern Indian gay man.
The whole exercise is a torture and a pain in the ass itself as they leave no opportunity to hump each other’s asses at any time and everything from their Cadillac to scarf to underwear is pink.
It gets redeemed slightly by Priyanka Chopra who gives the only credible performance as the girl they both fall in love with, but she is sabotaged by an awful Punjabi mum who has become branded as the worst mum in Bollywoods living memory-Kiron Kher and here she is singing a song in Punjabi too on south beach Miami while giving us a eye popping tour of the art deco resort.
Even worst is Bobby Deol as the lame duck who gets to be a real turkey, emerging as the only straight guy in this world who starts pretending to be gay because he is convinced by the 2 gay boys that women are attracted to effeminate drag queens who wear the outfits only Posh Spice wears.
Yashraj movies use everything from erstwhile hits to make this work from a gay reworking of the beedi song from the great Omkara to the fabled Gabbar from Sholay, Yash Raj are intellectually bankrupt as they actually have recycled half their movies from Kuch Kuch Hota Haie to Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham in a desperate effort to make a comedy work but it is in the worst possible taste and could not be rescued by any footage whether shot in Venice or in Miami.
Priyanka should keep away from this trash, as she is pretty and a decent actress who proved her mettle in the excellent fashion recently. As for John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan they are so contrived that I do not care what they do as long as they do not dance in future as this movie has the most unimaginatively violent and ugly choreography I have seen in a Bollywood epic with the two of them waltzing in a tuxedo on a beach in Venice.
A gay romcom with moronic monsters playing caricatures and a tasteless sordid script with jokes about g sexual positions making this a modern day Yashraj guide to the gay Indian Punjabi Kama Sutra experience. Disgusting and Dreadful. Rating: HALF STAR |

Karan Johar’s latest flick Dostana is the most awaited film of the year. The film stars Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and John Abraham in lead roles. Dostana has been directed by Tarun Mansukhani. The music has been composed by Vishal Shekhar. As far as the movie is concerned it’s a soft romantic comedy about three youngsters. Abhishek and John sport a gay relationship in the movie. Is Karan on his way to prove something on the gay front like he promoted ultra stupid extra marital affairs in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna?
