Dil Bole Hadippa - Target misfired

We had a chance to see this film at a local multiplex. This picture was released at the main single screen cinemas and multiplex of Karachi. We are compelled to say that it is not a good movie. Rotten Punjabi themes, infusion of Punjabi pattern of music simply does not work. Audience are now fed up with rotten Punjabi lyrics which are injected by the movie makers.

Our friend owns a commercial cinema in Karachi and the turn out after week one is very low, that clearly shows that the large segment of audience have rejected this film despite the fact that it has RANI MUKHERJI in the lead cast. SHAHID may be popular nowadays but we strongly feel he will not be able to stay in the main trek commercial cinema. Mr SHAHID KAPOOR has to engross himself in better and well scripted films rather than indulging himself in cheap routine films. People do not come to cinema house to see the looks of a star they in-fact come to see overall performance of the team which appear on the screen.

The central idea of this film is stale and used in numerous films and on this ground alone the film will be discarded by the masses.

There is another major drawback in the film----the pair of the older RANI and younger fellow SHAHID miserably fails to materialize. However RANI tries hard to play her role but fails to hit the right chords. Photography of the film is no doubt a bit over average but the music department makes it a BOMB. We reiterate that the audience literally is fed up with such stale themes and film makers are kindly advised to refrain from using same formula over and over again particularly the induction of Punjabi texture.

The film is bound to flop in the mega city of Karachi and considerable investment would go in the drain-------------- However, there is a thin chance that this movie might make a few bucks at the local multiplexes.    Natasha T. ALi, SYED ALI, Faisal Haider and Neha = Karachi Pakistan

On a scale of one to ten it only merits 3.5/10. Highly---- disappointing film despite its release under a good banner.

Delhi Fashion Week
Sep 24, 2009

Author: Style Compliment the user
Overall Rating
Varun Sardana, an alumnus of NIFT, Delhi, has had two successful shows at the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week under his belt. His debut collection garnered rave reviews from critics and the designer managed to bag the Best Debut Collection by the Fashion Design Council of India. Varun has been designing from past three years, here; he reveals some harsh realities of the Indian fashion industry.

Why fashion as profession? Since childhood I have always seen myself as a creative person. We all have a creative person within us; it's only a matter of being aware of it. Since my young days, I have seen my grandma doing her stitching, so fabrics and fibres were always around me. Somewhere, all this inspired me and in addition to it, I always had this knack within me.... Design philosophy… I make it a point that my design philosophy evolve from one season to another. I borrow my inspiration from anywhere, but always keep in mind that the approach has to be inherent. I like to design for women who are modern, contemporary and believe in experimenting and breaking the norms or challenging themselves but without trying to shock the world. Your first break…I launched my label in 2004 and started of with my debut show at Wills India Fashion Week which gained me critical appreciation. But then for the Spring-Summer 2009 collection, I joined hands with Delhi Fashion Week followed by a shift to WLIFW in A-W 2009. Why then shifted back to WLIFW? I don't want to comment on that…It was my personal choice and there are some ideologies which I follow and believe in, so there is no solid answer or reason behind it.

Views on the Indian fashion industry? Hmmm… I have mixed views about our fashion industry. I think one needs to find positives and negatives. Past one decade has seen an immense growth and today's new generation of designers have access to graphics and other new technologies which help in creating better designs. They are the ones capable of capturing the global market.  So where does India lack? The point which I want to put forward is that this glamorous industry is doing numerous things at a time. We should take one thing at a time. The other neglected sector is retail it needs to be addressed and is still at an unorganized stage. At this nascent stage, we should not compare ourselves with the international industry. A lot of factors are to be taken into consideration before one launches a label. Though everything depends on luck and talent, unlike international designer, Indian designer have to face a lot more issues. Launching a label should be a more friendly process, if not easy. How much important is marketing when it comes to fashion? Oh… yes. Marketing is very important. But if you ask me, I would not buy the statement- 'emphasize on tying up with people to make the brand visible'. I would rather create valuable and good quality products which I consider will be sustainable.

Designers you admire… Among the national designers, I like Arjun Saluja and Anamika Khanna a lot for the consistency in their work. Vivien Westwood, Victor & Rolf and Undercover are the ones I admire internationally. Your views regarding the whole episode of Vijay Singh's arrest… What is the future of Indian Fashion & Design Week? I don’t want to comment on Mr Vijay Singh's arrest as it involves some personal issues. As far as future of IFDW is concerned, from past one and half years, the people of this industry are trying to be together and deliver one fashion week. But for the upcoming season I can say there will not be one because of the brand new edition of India Men's Week. And regarding the confusion of whether FDPC or FDCI will rule the roost, we have to wait till the dust settles down. Which Fashion Week are you planning to showcase your collection in the upcoming season? I am still working on my designs, have not yet decided yet. Still talks are on… so let's wait and watch. I'll take a call regarding it once I get to know which will be a better platform to showcase in. Before showcasing here, I'll be presenting this collection in Paris.

It always happens that I read bad reviews on some websites about some good movies! it happened with many movies e.g. Rab ne Bana di Jodi, some website gave it 2.5/5 and the movie deserved 5/5 as it was just.. excellent and one of best of Shahrukh's movies. When I saw the trailer of Dil Bole Hadippa I could sense it, feel it.. that it's a full entertaining package and that it's a worth watching movie.. today I went with a group of 8 ppl to see it, we all loved it, enjoyed it, a funny interesting movie.. I loved Rani's performance as well as Shahid's.. Shahid has changed alot.. he's dashing, handsome and a good talented actor now.. he deserves to be called a "superstar" and to be one of the top 5 actors in bollywood. So people out there.. don't believe in bad reviews and just believe in what u feel and what u sense it.. the movie is excellent, flawless, funny, and you'll enjoy itSmile.

frankly speaking i didn't expect the rani-shaheed jodi to work out this well.. i mean after the disaster of vidya-shaheed disaster.. I believed shaheed with older females was a no-no.. but dil bole hadippa proved me wrong.. I loved the sweet little chemistry build-up between the two :)

the fil was absolutely hilarious.. and rani was just amazing! being able to play the the opposite is no laughing matter.. tho she made us laugd A Lot!  but rani did it flalessly.. but some things were a litte extraodinary... the time when shaheed uncovers her "little secret" just by indentifying her contact lenses a very surreal.. and i somehow felt that the last time she came into the field she should have come dressed as a girl.. that was her identity after all!

the ending speech was just lovely.. rani's expressions were beautiful.. and she made me cry.. it was nice to know that the film had a message "aaj ki naari ki saachai"

at the ending of the film many people in the theatre hall were clapping and so was i.. i guess they all liked it very much aswell.. :)

all in all..  if you want a good laugh and a lil' crying at the same try give this film a go...

Tooth Tattoos Designs
Sep 22, 2009

Author: Style Compliment the user
Overall Rating
The ancient inhabitants of Easter Island believed tattooing their skin made it sacred and allowed them to speak directly to the Gods. Their tattoos included facial markings of bold lines and dots from one side of their foreheads to the other. Experts say that the whole idea and art of tattoos actually originated in ancient Egypt and the Mummies that have been found even prove it. This was about skin however, 'Tooth Tattoos' are a new rage in body art. Custom, hand-painted artwork is placed onto one's tooth. Typically, Tooth Tattoos are applied to a replacement crown before it is inserted into one's mouth, although the process is also possible with an intentionally removed tooth.

The procedure is little complicated depending on the intricacy of designs but not painful at all. If the clients dislike the tattoo for any reason, teeth tattoos can be removed quickly and completely in a one- to two-minute process, unlike removing body tattoos. Just a little grinding with a rubber wheel can give you back the clean white tooth. Normally this artwork is done on the back teeth, the molars. Some people prefer having it on the cheek side of the tooth, some on the tongue side. These tattoos are could be considered a white collar tattoo as well. They are seen only when one wants to share what they have. The artwork can also be done on the front teeth, the incisors to show it off with your lovely smile. You can have custom Artwork Hand Painted tooth tattoos on your teeth (crowns). There are many options for Gold Crowns as well. He ward Dental Lab has been providing the Crown and Bridge services for over 30 years. However, the trend has gained popularity in present days. Artists use ceramic stain and a one-haired brush to paint unique portraits on to crown and bridgework, then bake and glaze the teeth to set the designs. The resulting work costs anything around $200-$600 depending on the intricacy of the design, and can be shipped to the customer for fitting their own dentist.

The fact that the most successful methods of identifying human remains is through Forensic Dental Identificational so gives you a reason for a teeth tattoo. Tooth ID System is the latest, simple yet advanced technology, helping to reduce the arduous task of matching dental records by imprinting personal information onto a tooth itself (i.e. social security number, phone number or any other information that ID's the person.) Also the System is resistant to intense heat and attrition and remains intact as long as the crown remains in the owner's mouth and heat does not exceed the fusing temperature of porcelain i.e. 900 C (1700 F). The procedure is non-invasive and the end result is unnoticeable, except by professionals. Guys, you have got enough reasons now to explore this latest trend, so unzip your lips to paint your teeth! Fast Facts - Requires a special prescription before applying the tattoo. - Process originated in forensic science, where individual teeth needed to be permanently marked for cataloging purposes. -Get the procedure done only from trained professionals.  For more information you can see India Fashion Week and find details.

A solid mix of traditional romantic comedy with a feminist slant.

Rani Mukherjee does very well with the female lead.

Shahid Kapoor does a good job of acting the male lead, which for most of the movie was less challenging and interesting than the female lead.

Sherilyn Chopra was good enough to make we consider seeing a movie with her as the female lead, though her part in this didn't demand much.

The script was good, in that it offered solid parts for the actors, moved pretty quickly, and offered no staggeringly obvious holes.

The direction was solid if unexciting - when I was watching this movie I didn't think about the direction and liked the movie.  From me this is fairly high praise, since if I am thinking about the direction that is a sign that I am distancing myself from the movie.

On balance a solid flick.  Hope it has a long run and I may see it again.

Dil Bole Hadippa is horrible

Author: Rafi Compliment the user
Overall Rating

Dil Bole Hadippa is a shameless copy of the "She's the Man", a bad chick flick in the first place, which was based on Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. Veera (Rani Mukherjee) is a girl who works in a local theatre group but dreams of playing cricket. Rohan (Shahid Kapoor), an England county cricketer, returns to India on hearing about his father's heart attack. But it's just a ruse to get him to captain his father’s cricket team which has been losing consecutively for the last 8 years. The rest of the story is how Veera puts on a turban and beard to become Veer Pratap Singh to fulfill her dreams.

One can tell it’s a girl from a mile but our Rohan cannot recognize its Veera but then recognizes that it’s Veera when she loses her contact lens. Yash Raj already did this ridiculous bit in Rab Ne but here they repeat it making this even more ridiculous. The movie is Rab Ne, Aaja Nachle, Chak De, Veer Zaara all rolled into one. And what's up with the constant DDLJ references in all the Yash Raj films? Hey We know that you guys made DDLJ almost 15 years ago. Now please get over it.

DIL BOLE HADIPPA : A childish attempt to fool a Cricketing Nation.
Sep 18, 2009

Author: Bobby sing Compliment the user
Overall Rating

The day I saw the first promo of “Dil Bole Hadippa” few months back, my only words were “Oh God! not again”. Because once more there was a movie based on Punjab and Cricket with a talented coach having tons of attitude, along with a girl trying to deceive in a very ill suited “Sikh Getup” which was not convincing at all from any angle in the frame.

And now after sitting through the whole movie today, I exactly feel the same again and was even more disappointed by the final product. The movie couldn’t change my thoughts even slightly as it has nothing new to offer in any departments technically or creatively. From the first scene itself you are offered silly sequences in the name of cricket where both the bowler and the batsman don’t know anything other than just the ball crossing the boundary. The story is completely predictable from the promos itself where a girl poses as a boy to play in a match against the rival team (which is strangely an unofficial team from Lahore, Pakistan) and you are simply offered all repetitive scenes every minute in the movie without any specific entertainment or novelty.

As an overall review, I would simply like to mention a few (silly) points here about the movie, which will give you a concrete idea of the project and it’s below average content:

1.
It starts with a sequence where Rani (who specializes in hitting sixes) is scoring 6 sixes in a row to a bowler who is supposed to be a well known Ranji player (Domestic First Class Cricket Championship in India) and he doesn’t know how to try 6 different bowls in an over. Quite a silly start!

2.
In the tense atmosphere prevailing between India & Pakistan from decades, the director shows two local teams playing unofficial cricket every six months in a stadium without any cricketing official in sight. The Indian team is from Amritsar, managed  by Anupam Kher & the Pakistani team is from Lahore lead by Dilip Tahil.

3. These two old time friends come with their respective teams at Wagah Border (Original Location) where there is no security officials, no military men of either sides and no official cricket authority on the location. Moreover, both Anupam & Dilip watch the matches sitting alone on one Sofa in a tent and there is no one else watching the match from the State, Center or Local Government.

4. There is an overuse of deliberate Punjabi language and Devotional Sikh “Mool Mantra” coming many times in the movie. The director uses it purposely to give the movie a more authentic feel but the move falls flat.

5. In a poorly conceived climax match, the Indian players are shown getting out childishly. It seems as if Shahid kept the coaching only for him and Rani alone and the rest were simply left out of the training camps.

6. The director didn’t do his research on the finer details of Cricket and its rules. In the last ball, Rani changes her stance from right to left hand. A player can only do so after seeking the permission of the on-field Umpires and also informing the rival captain, so that he can change the field settings. But here Rani just changes the stance ignoring all rules of the game.

7. In the climax, a very silly argument is given by Rani on the stage, saying that both girls and boys should be allowed to play together in Cricket as a Mixed Team. Was this supposed to be innovative writing?

Performance wise Rani makes a desperate attempt to strike back but sadly focuses on a wrong project. She tries hard and also impresses in her Man-Act, but the badly written and poorly directed movie lets her down. I also couldn’t understand how she approved the awful get up, which was a complete disaster all the way. Shahid does nothing, other than showing his attitude. After “Kaminey”, he disappoints big time. Sherlyn Chopra simply flaunts her fab body. Surprisingly Rakhi got more shouts than Rani in her opening scene and she really has the right dancing moves better than many lead artists in the industry. Anupam Kher, Dilip Tahil and Poonam Dhillon have played their parts perfectly.

Musically, the soundtrack has a huge Punjabi hangover. A few songs are catchy but don’t have the original Punjabi feel, Vocals and arrangement. Cinematography is nothing extraordinary. Background Score is completely based on Dhol and Punjabi sounds but gets repetitive after the initial scenes.

Collectively it’s a light movie based on cricket with too many loopholes and faults in its direction. Anurag Singh chose an absolutely worn-out theme for the movie and also didn’t work on the finer details of the sport. He carelessly tries to fool a “Cricketing Nation” where people eat, drink and live cricket. In fact, the movie reminded me one of the first (childish) movies made on Cricket titled “All-Rounder” and I think that says all about my views on “Dil Bole Hadippa”.

In few words, I wasn’t expecting such a weak movie from the makers of “Chakk De India”.

Rating : 1 / 5 (That too only for the spirited performance of Rani Mukherjee).

‘Dil Bole Hadipa’ is a pleasant ‘khichdi’ with the right Aditya Chopra flavours: light romance, Punjabi background, pop patriotism, NRI heroes who ultimately opt for Indian culture, strong music, and crossed identities as a framework for a situational comedy.

Veera (Rani Mukherjee) is a wannabe Indian batsperson, while Rohan (Shahid) is the captain and selector of the Indian team for Aman Cup. It is a match played annually between Amritsar and Lahore. Veera is not allowed to compete for selections in the all-male team, so she assumes a false identity. Meanwhile, she and Rohan have fallen in love. In the end, she does play some winning shots for team India, and her identity is let out in a stock melodramatic revelation. Incidentally, this scene just doesn’t ring true or natural, with a rather dubious feminist message too.

What makes the movie stand out is the upbeat mood and bubbly ambience. The script is sound, with some very funny dialogues delivered endearingly by the cast. The subtle ‘desi’ undercurrents are brought out well. The Punjabi village background, with women in bright, shop-fresh clothes, as usual looks too newly minted and picture-postcard perfect. The songs are fresh and capture the bhangra beats dramatically.

Rani Mukherjee, as expected, is brilliantly natural in an amazing role. However, Shahid Kapoor, as the deadpan, cool NRI comes across as too wooden and artificially stiff. Anupam Kher is unimpressive as Rohan’s father, while the once stunningly beautiful Poonam Dhillon, his estranged wife, looks awfully haggard, though she does make an impact. Rakhi Sawant has her usual horrible item number that intrudes into the flow of the narrative.

The movie tends to engage the viewer in its progress, which is one of its assets, though the ending is pretty weak and implausible.

DIL BOLE HADIPPA : A childish attempt to fool a Cricketing Nation.

A few songs are catchy but they don’t have the original Punjabi feel, Vocals and arrangement.

In fact, the movie reminded me one of the first (childish) movies made on Cricket by Dev Anand titled “All-Rounder” and I think that says all about my views on “Dil Bole Hadippa”.

In few words, I wasn’t expecting such a weak movie from the makers of “Chakk De India”.

Rating : 1 / 5 (That too only for the spirited performance of Rani Mukherjee).

Colorful clothes, lush green fields, chatterbox female, handsome male...welcome to the world of Yash Raj Films. Dil Bole Hadippa is a through and through Yash Chopra movie..right from the dialogues to the locations, everything is quintessentially Yash Chopra.

The film is about Veera (Rani Mukherjee), a small town Punjabi girl, for whom cricket is more than just a sport; it's her biggest passion, the reason she's alive. To say that she is an excellent player would be an understatement. Nobody in her little town has had the privilege of getting her out. She has just one dream: to play for India, and open with Sachin.

The film is also about Vikramjit (Anupam Kher), who lives a lonely life in Punjab, albeit nursing a dream. He has a friend in Lahore, Liyaqat (Dilip Tahil). On the eve of Independence Day every year they play a cricket match, called the Aman Cup. For several years now Liyaqat had been winning, and Vikramjit wants to win the cup very badly indeed.

Enter Rohan (Shahid Kapoor), his son. A fantastic all rounder himself, and the captain of an English County team, he lives in England with his mom Yamini (Poonam Dhillon). His dad asks for his help, and Rohan gets down to coaching the team of useless players.

Considering that Veera is a girl, she is not allowed to be a part of the team. So, she dresses herself up as a man, Veer Pratap Singh, and gains entry into the team. While cricket practice is in full swing, love is blossoming on the sidelines. Rohan falls for Veera, not knowing that she is posing as Veer.

A slight distraction appears in the form of a skimpily clad Sonia (Sherlyn Chopra), Vikram's friend's daughter, with designs on Rohan.

The D-day arrives: the match! Obviously the Indian team wins...Veera's identity is revealed and she becomes the star.

If you think the script sounds familiar, you're not wrong. Dil Bole Hadippa is "She's the man" in spirit. The difference is that the latter was about football, and the girl did seem to be able to play well, unlike Rani who is clearly not a cricket player.

Rani did lose a lot of weight for the film, but still looks much older than Shahid. She plays a Punjabi gal in the movie, and even though she is otherwise a good actor, her accent and diciton are very un-Punjabi like. Her clothes are colorful (thanks to Mike Stringer) though some outfits were definitely over the top.

If the female protagonist is a Punjabi it is obligatory that her English will be bad and that she will be loud. When will Bollywood film makers wake up to the fact that the audience has had enough of these stereotypical characters?

The under dressed Sherlyn Chopra and Rakhi Sawant exist only to show a lot of skin, considering that Rani is fully clothed.

Shahid has done a good job. With sky high expectations after Kaminey, he's managed to pull this one off well. His clothes look fab...hats off to the dress designer.

Except for "bhangda bistar" (humorous lyrics, good video), the rest of the songs are just average. They have a rustic touch, but they all sound the same!

The film's climax, though is obvious, is as bad as it gets.

If you're a Punjabi you'll want to beat up the film maker for dishing out such an insipid film. But the sight of jalebi with rabdi and a tall glass of lassi in the movie might perk you up a bit!

Punjabi Bhangra Rocking in Dil Bole Hadippa Music

Dil Bole Hadippa music is rocking with Punjabi Bhangra and songs only. Read full - Dil Bole Hadippa music review

"Now, Pritam Chakraborty is not a new name in Indian music world. Dil Bole Hadippa movie is based on fun and entertainment of love and romance. As a lyricist of Dil Bole Hadippa, Jaideep Sahni has also tried to put some great rhythmic tune.

“Discowale Khisko” is the first song of Dil Bole Hadippa music. The song is the most important of the movie which has taken maximum time. It is meaningful song on rhythmic lyrics. The song establishes “Desi” music rather than “Disco” music. It shows the proud of “Desi” music and ignores English music and dance. There is great music with the combination of Punjabi Bhangara. There is vocal and fun music on band and rap.

“Ishq Hi Rab Hai” is the next song of Dil Bole Hadippa music. The song begins with slow-paced background music but soon it appears with vocal tune music. It is mix-up of Punjabi song and music. Music of the song is tuning in background. It is cultural song of Punjab. Music is very sweet but not vocal.

“Bhangra Bistar” is also a Punjabi song. It is real Punjabi Bhangra song on Punjabi Bhangra music. The song begins with echo music which is in background. It is a situational song of Punjabi culture..."
