DELHI-6 - is Intense, Real and well worth the wait & expectations !!! Music - Awesome ... a great new level of music, that A R Rahman reached with this movie, it would be very difficult even for him to break and go beyond this level. But, its A R Rahman, only he can do this. Movie - First half - easy 'n simple story building, developing characters etc. Second half - complex, real, perfectly done director's job. Great casting, Excellent performances by all, Technically flawless, Perfect Direction and very fluid, smooth story telling. Above all a very subtle way of conveying a thoughtful and real message to masses. Every aspect of this movie deserves to be appreciated. It is what moviemaking should be all about !!! Again ... it can still have mixed reactions, may not be unanimosly appreciated by all ... the way "Rang De Basanti" was. After all its INDIA, we have people who create movies like Rang De Basanti, Swades, Taare Zameen Pe, Munnabhai MBBS, Mumbai Meri Jaan, A Wednesday and many more great ones. But, we also have people who create movies like Chandani Chowk to China, Ghajini etc. And, beyond them, there are people who appreciate such overly done dramas. So, Delhi-6 is not for people who like such movies. Such people should better stay away from reality and movies like Delhi-6. 'Coz they just can't understand it, and such people go public saying things like "waste of time" for movies like Delhi-6. huh ... what a waste of life ! All I can say is ... it takes a lot to make any movie and to make a movie like Delhi-6, you need to be Gifted as well. If nothing positively constructive, we should atleast appreciate all efforts behind every movie and may be even Bless and Thank people like Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra for making movies like RDB and Delhi-6, 'coz they are worth it.
frankly speaking its a waste of time

WELL IF I ASK U WHAT'S THE ACTUAL MEAINING OF CINEMA, U WUD SAY CINEMA IS A MEDIUM OF MASS COMMUNICATION WHICH TRIES TO DRIVE OUR ATTENTION TOWARDS SOCIAL, ECONOMIC AND CULTURAL PROBLEMS OR TO SHOWCASE SOME REALITIES OF LIFE IN AN APPROPRIATE SPAN OF TIME AND THIS IS WAT DELHI 6 DOES QUITE SUCCESSFULLY IN AN EXTRAVAGANT WAY. ROSHAN MEHRA(ABHISHEK BACHCHAN), THE NRI BROUGHT UP IN NEW YORK RETURNS TO INDIA HAVING CONSTANT MISTAKES IN HIS ACCENT WITH HIS AILING GRAND MOTHER(WAHEEDA REHMAN) AND DISCOVERS WHERE ACTUALLY THE ROOTS OF HIS FAMILY BELONG i.e IN CHANDI CHOWK(DELHI 6) AND THIS JOURNEY UNFOLDS THE PLOT OF THE MOVIE INCLUDING HIS SO CALLED ROMANCE OR CHED- CHAAD WITH BITTU(SONAM KAPOOR OR BETTER CALL HER BHENJI) WHO KEEPS ON DISTURBING AND TORTURING THE PIGEONS AROUND WITH HER BORING SINGING TRIALS. THIS FLICK SEEMS LIKE A MORALITY PLAY WHERE U ENCOUNTER WITH ALMOST EVERY ELEMENT OF SOCIAL REALITIES LIKE SUPERSTITIONS, UNTOUCHABILITY ETC. THE MOVIE TRACES DOWN THE 'MONKEY MAN' FORMULA TO EMBELLISH THE NUCLEUS OF THE PLOT AND KEEPS ON PREACHING EVEN USING RAMLEELA AS AN INVENTIVE SUTRADHAR OF SORTS AS THE MOVIE HEADS TO ITS RESOLUTION. DELHI 6 HAS THE MOST TALENTED CREATIVE TEAM AND IT REFLECTS IN THEIR WORK WHICH IS PHENOMENAL. BINOD PRADHAN'S CINEMATOGRAHY IS LIKE A LESSON FOR ALL THE CINEMATOGRAPHERS WHICH HOLDS UR ATTENTION THROUGHOUT WITH SCINTILLATING CAMERA-SHOTS. THE STORY, SCREENPLAY AND DIALOGUES BY RAKESH OMPRAKASH AND KAMLESH PANDEY IS EFFECTIVE IN BITS BUT BETTER THAN OTHER FILMS IN COUNTLESS WAYS THOUGH THE CLIMAX IS A MAJOR LET DOWN. LAST YEAR A.R. RAHMAN PROVED HIS UNEQUIVALENT TALENT WITH REMARKABLE TRACKS LIKE 'KABHI KABHI ADITI ZINDAGI', 'KAHIN TO HOGI WOH', 'TU HI TOH MERI DOST', 'GUZARISH' ETC. HERE ALSO HIS SUPREME TALENT GIVES US TRACKS LIKE 'YEH DELHI HAI, 'MASAKKALI', 'GENDA PHOOL', 'REHNA TU' AND 'ARZIYAAN' WITH HATKE LYRICS BY PRASOON JOSHI WHICH MAKE OUR HEARTS GO UUUUMMM...UUMMM... EACH AND EVERY CHARACTER SPEAKS, REACTS, CRIES IN ACCORDANCE OF THEIR CHARACTERISATION AND THE KIND OF HUMOUR USED IS EXACTLY WHAT WE FIND IN DILLIWALAS.ABHISHEK BACHCHAN , SONAM KAPOOR, RISHI KAPOOR, WAHEEDA REHMAN, DIVYA DUTTA, VIJAY RAAZ, DEEPAK DOBRIYAL ETC. HAVE TO BE COMPLEMENTED FOR DELIVERING SUCH CLASSIC PERFORMANCES.THE REAL STAR OF THE MOVIE IS THE PERSON SITTING ON THE DIRECTOR'S SEAT i.e, RAKESH OMPRAKASH MEHRA WHO THINKS OUT OF THE BOX AND HANDLES THE SUBJECT WITH SUCH EASE AND SPONTANEITY AND HAS SUCH A STRONG CONTROL OVER SCREENPLAY WHICH ONLY FEW HAVE. ITS A BORING AND PREACHING PIECE OF CINEMA BUT HAS A LOT OF POTENTIAL TO TOUCH UR HEART. ITS A MOVIE WHICH HAS FRAGRANCE OF DELHI AND ITS PEOPLE SO GO ON ITS A MUST WATCH ATLEAST FOR ONCE IF U ARE LOOKING FOR INTELLECTUAL CINEMA OTHERWISE ITS A WASTE OF TIME COZ ITS TOO BORING AND TIRING. DELHI 6 SHOWS THE POWER OF CINEMA AND PROVES THAT WHEN DONE WELL THERE IS NOTHING QUITE LIKE A BOLLYWOOD MASALA ENTERTAINER.IN THE END I JUST WANNA SAY 'MASTI HAI MASTAANO KI DILLI DILLI, GALI HAI DEEWANO KI DELHI 6.

Delhi 6 is a story about Roshan (Abhishek Bachchan) who returns to India with his ailing Grandma (Waheeda Rahman), cause she wants to die in her homeland-India. Both comes to their old home, in Chandni Chowk. Here the journey starts towards love-hate relationship with the Walled Delhi. How interestingly he gets involved with riot of emotions and madness of Chandni Chowk, is worth to watch out for.
Pen, Paper & Projection:
Making a concept movie is very dangerous in Bollywood. Rakeysh did this once (Aks) and failed miserably. Still he was sure about this one, and man he succeeds by far. On a thin storyline of 'Black Monkey', Rakeysh has weaved such a strong movie. One just wonders how the connections are made. Movie starts with the aerial shot of Chandni Chowk. [the same in promo]. I got goosebumps all over. till a minute or so. And main theme starts unfolding. Suddenly we are taken to New York where Roshan and Grandma are about to leave. And comes to their ages old Haveli in Delhi. Till now we see grandeur journey of Delhi. Not the delhi which we are used to see...................

Rakesh Mehera has an excellent creativity, really a hard work and it seems in the movie. the direction, music, cinematography, screenplay, lyrics ofcourse. the only i didnt like is his direction and story completely covers musical part(which excels).
Story strats in America and ends within us. Roshan(Abhishek) comes to India, "Dili" that too in dili 6 with her dadi(wahida) and find all places very crowdy but still alive. As story moves he experience everything which is the part of our tradition, culture like supersticiousness, dowery system,ect..
In between "kaala bandar" plays very important role. and finally opens up every one's head and shows them the real "you".
Abhishek is nice as usual, dont really have the opportunity to show up still need to mention one scene when he feels helpless and hun wahida(beautiful).Sonam looks amazing in western too. Other people like Atul kulkarni,Om puri ect...are perfect on their part and character.
Over all a movie worth watching. Dont look out for anyone's performance as there is no scope. it's more about storyline and direction. Enjoy....;)

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra wasn’t kidding when he said he has tried to recapture the magic of Chandni Chowk.
The movie was more about him revisiting the narrow bylanes of Chandni Chowk and the colourful characters who call it their home, while the story is almost an afterthought. It's only in the second part of the movie that a plot starts taking shape.
He has cleverly used the Monkey Man mayhem that shook the nation (we are a nation that shakes for just about anything) a couple of years ago to bring to the fore the real issue of communal violence.
Abhishek Bacchan’s cool dude act grates the nerves and you get the feeling he promoting a Motorola cell phone which he waves around all the time. Sonam Kapoor looks adorable, hats off to whoever designed her look for the movie.
Pran Chopra, Om Puri, Waheeda Rehman, Amitabh Bacchan, Rishi Kapoor are the other stars along with MTV VJ Cyrus Sahukar as a womanizing photographer, Vijay Raaz as a meanie cop and Range De Basanti’s Atul Kulkarni as a cowering fella who finds his voice.
Roshan (Abhishek Bacchan), who is the product of a Hindu-Muslim marriage, takes grandma (Waheeda Rehman) home as she wants to die there. He is left amused and bemused by the cacophony of Delhi 6 – jalebis, pigeons (that fly prettily but never shit on your head), cows, qawwali, the Ram Leela and the eventual showdown with an almost Rang De Basanti ending.
The movie’s a visual treat and Mehra has added a nice touch in the way he has juxtaposed the Ram Leela and later brought in the supposed madman who holds a mirror to everyone’s face.
Bottomline, there is a monkey within all of us.
A timepass movie. No more, no less.
