A NRI BOY COME TO INDIA WITH HIS GRANNY. THE MIXTURE OF RAMAYANA AND MONKEY MAN ALONG WITH THE COMMUNAL UNITY IS THE KEY POINT OF THE MOVIE. PRIORITY TOWARDS THE DREAM AND PEOPLE IN PREY OF IT. A MATURE SUBJECT CAN SEE IF YOU ARE REALLY A GOOD EYE KEEPER AS THE STORY IS BONDED WITH LOTS OF EXPECTATION AND A PEOPLE SEEING THE MOVIE HAVE TO FEEL WHAT THE DIRECTOR REALLY WANT TO SAY. SONGS ARE ACCORDINGLY PERFECT. ABHISHEK BACCHAN AT HIS BEST, VAHIDA REHMAN ALONGWITH RISHI KAPOOR PLAYED A SENSIBLE ROLE. CAN WATCH.

Delhi6 is atotal bakwas film. I can't understand it's concept. Abhishek trying to speak like anN.R.I makes it worse. Sonam looks pretty inthe film but the truth is that she can't act.

Making a concept movie is very dangerous in Bollywood. Rakeysh did this once (Aks) and failed miserably. Still he was sure about this one, and man he succeeds by far. On a thin storyline of 'Black Monkey', Rakeysh has weaved such a strong movie. One just wonders how the connections are made. Movie starts with the aerial shot of Chandni Chowk. [the same in promo]. I got goosebumps all over. till a minute or so. And main theme starts unfolding. Suddenly we are taken to New York where Roshan and Grandma are about to leave. And comes to their ages old Haveli in Delhi. Till now we see grandeur  journey of Delhi. Not the delhi which we are used to see, like Red Fort or President Bhavan. But real delhi with choked up roads, with mad people. With lively relations.

In the first half, which is light hearted, I was totally in love with the gully and nukkad of Chandni Chowk. One by one each of the fabulous ensemble cast is introduced. And that too, coming with a unique point. Unique moral is attached with each character. Like issue of being untouchable, being a muslim, being an unmarried sister who is getting older, dowry, being extreme hindu or a muslim; each characteristic is introduced along with the character. And that works the most for the movie.

The beautiful concept of 'seeing God in ourselves' shown with the help of a Mirror is so touching. I would love to make a special mention to it. Beautiful thought which can inspire a lot. This is why we got the dialogue in soundtrack. 'Zarre Zarre mein usika noor hai...'.

Another special mention is to 'Ramleela' scenes, which takes the movie forward at one by one points. Ramleela sets are done fantastically. I would love to be a part of such large magum opus.

Story is somewhat lagging in between the movie, because idea of the movie is quite different then usual. But its the screenplay, SUPERB cinematography and performances [including Rahman's - music] which holds the viewers. Editing is good cause movie gets wrapped up in perfect timing of 2.5 hours. ONe of the biggest strong point of the movie is its art direction and cinematography. One just can not identify whether any portion is shot on a set. Everything looks so real.

i like this movie, not from the point of view of entertainment, but the message given by the R.O. Mehra. We all know about the one thing that, "only one man can't do change in the typical Indian system ,in which the all people (no matter whether they are muslims or hindus)are superstitious . Likewise in the movie Abhishek tried to change the chandni chowk and in some ways he succeeded but if we want to bring a revolution in India then one man will not sufficient to do the same but the all people will have to take the challenge. SO LET'S PLEDGE "WE WILL DO IT".

Yeh dilli hai mere yaar...bas ishq mohabbat pyaar

Delhi-6 is a great, thought-provoking film with a brilliant ensemble of cast and the best technicians the industry has to offer.A great script, real characters who you can relate to...though it's called Delhi 6, it portrays a generic problem faced by any city...though, North Indians specially Dilliwallahs will surely relate to and love this film.Delhi-6 also has some great music, another masterstroke from AR Rahman, the guy just keeps getting better with every album.Last but not the least, another brilliant film from the ace director, Rakeysh of RDB fame...great cinematic experience.

The concept of seeing God in ourselves' shown with the help of a Mirror is so touching. the dialogue in soundtrack. 'Zarre Zarre mein usika noor hai...'.beautiful thought which can inspire alot.

It has brilliantperformances by Abhishek & Sonam. Abhishek grooving in Genda Phool is awesome, and Sonam is a delight to watch on screen...great screen presence.

Delhi 6, yet another great piece of work from Rakeysh...it’s about characters played by an assortment of artists like Waheeda Rehman, Atul Kulkarni, Rishi Kapoor, Divya Dutta, etc in small but effective roles & power packed performances.

Boring

The first thing that I thought after 30 min of this movie is, why did I ever come to see this movie. Believe me Guys this is a total Pakaoo movie, and according to me if you do not want to get bored, please pass this movie. I felt as if I am sitting in the theatre since ages. Abhishek Bachhan is looking FAT, and he is dancing around with his obscene ponch. The only good thing about the movie is Sonam Kapoor, she is looking very pretty.

Rakeysh Om Prakash has made the entire movie in "n" number of skits, with there being no correlation of skit number 2, from skit number 1. The songs just bunp into the story anytime, and hamper the flow of the movie, if there is any. The "Kala Bandar" similarity is hilarious... Its hard to bieleve kind of story, nothing practical about it. There is nothing much to the technicality so not worth talking about it.

My Rating: 2

Please avoid this movie

Okay, but Not So Well

This movie is okay! I don't say bad. But it is not as good as Sonam Kapoor has been saying. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra thinks out of the box and it's more than evident now. First AKS, then RANG DE BASANTI, now DELHI 6. A two-liner of the story may give you an impression that it's similar to UTV's earlier outing SWADES, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker: An American of Indian origin returns to his roots and decides to stay back in India. But DELHI 6 bites more than it can chew. DELHI 6 tells the story of a young American boy Roshan [Abhishek Bachchan] of Indian origin, who comes to India for the first time, to drop his ailing grandmother [Waheeda Rehman]. She wants to retire and spend the last leg of her life back home; dissolving into the soil she was born in.

In America, having led a very western lifestyle, Roshan is not familiar with the sites and smells, the food and culture, the religion and beliefs, this huge melting pot that India is. He believes that Dadi had left her family and loved ones back in America, only to realize that how wrong he was.
The warmth and affection of the neighbourhood embraces him with open arms. Amidst all this he meets the beautiful Bittu [Sonam Kapoor], who wants to break free from the typical Indian social structure, to whom Roshan is destined to lose his heart. That Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is an accomplished storyteller is evident in several individualistic scenes. Note the scene when Vijay Raaz slaps Abhishek and Abhishek slaps him back. Also, portions in the second hour, when a Baba [Akhilendra Mishra] triggers off the Mandir-Masjid talk and divides the two communities, is very well structured. The sequences are disturbing and the writers and director succeed in exposing the fickle-minded people residing in the locality.

But the screenplay isn't foolproof. The romantic track is the weakest link in the enterprise. The love story falls flat. Also, the ending is so abstract that an average moviegoer would find it difficult to comprehend what the actual culmination is. The sequence in the end, when Amitabh and Abhishek have a conversation, looks weird. In fact, ridiculous. What was the need to have this sequence? It makes no sense. Even the Ram Leela sequences, interspersed at regular intervals, are forced in the screenplay. The music is okay, but I do not like "Masakali" or "Rehna Tu", but I like "Dilli 6".

On the whole, DELHI 6 has a terribly boring beginning [first hour], an absorbing middle [second half] and a weak end [climax]. Sonam tries, Abhishek owns the film and the ret of them ain't so special.

P.S

COULDN'T GET PICS, SO EXCLUDE THIS ONE!!

Great "art" mixed with "action" film

I liked the balance of the film .... part "art" film and some "action."  Music was terrific ... especially "Hey Kala Bandar."  Could have used an intermission .... theatre I was in didn't observe that.  Food scenes were interesting ... although almost seemed like a commercial for chakli.  Good thought-provoking film.  Great way to spend the afternoon at the movies.
