Bhool Bhulaiyaa

Shiny marries Vidya and brings her to his ancestral house. She was a weak personality – since during her childhood, her parents had left her with her grandmother and had gone abroad for material gains. Parents were confused about priorities of life – thus the daughter grew up to be a  meek weakling ! As a young child, she spent most of her time listening to fairy tales as told to her by her Grand Mother (and we all know what kind of stories can an illiterate ,village bred aged lady tell her grand child – all about Kings and lonesome Princess under some spell /demon etc. and how the Prince comes to rescue her and blah blah !). Later her parents take  come and take her away from her Grand Mother and she is introduced to a totally new life style abroad. Well such girls usually copy whatever they are exposed to for basically they have no one to tell what is right and what is wrong – her own parents were after all complete blokes !

Thus Vidya wears all kinds of western dresses and attains the nuances of the ‘gori chamdis’. Shiny meets her and falls for her.They get married and he brings her to his ancestral, dilapidated home.

Now that house was possessed by the  vindictive spirit (soul/atma/bhoot) of Monjulika - a dancer whose lover was killed right in front of her own eyes by the tyrannical King. Because her spirit resided in that house – so the upper storey was completely blocked for visitors. Vidya being a modern girl opens the door and invites in herself the ‘sad and vindictive’ spirit of Monjulika. Monjulika possesses her but controls her speech and body in such a way that no one comes to know that she is actually possessed by the sad spirit of Monjulika.

A whole lot of ruckus gets created and Akshaya – the Psychologist - is invited to treat the patient – Amisha Patel – as Vidya tries to point the blame on her all the time. But Akshaya finds out that the one actually possessed is Vidya – in whom – Monjulika resided ! Now according to Monjulika – the owner of the house was the king – who was none other than Shiny – thus Monjulika wanted to take revenge by killing Shiny !

So with the help of a senior ‘Spirit possession treatment provider’ – Akshaya manages to drive away the unquenched spirit of Monjulika from Vidya’s body.

End of Movie.

Surpirsed to see that Psychiatrists , Doctors, Psychologists – who belong to the branch of Science believe in ghosts and evil spirits  ----that they actually also have ways to drive away ghosts and possessions. This only happened in remote villages….how come London returned Scientists also participated in such ‘Bhoot Bhagao Andolan’ ..its surprising !!

Controversial title song : Hare Rama , Hare Krishna – the song’s video shows semi nude girls showing their buttocks and teats !! Amazing ! in a country like Ours – where people have died in the name of religionand God (Rama Janam Bhhomi and Babri Masjid)…and now the latest Rama Setu….the Bolly bullies had the audacity to  depict the song so cheaply !! Well this proves only one thing – that they have kept the old haggard people (men) in power and position amply happy (by supplying sexy ,educated, english speaking prostitutes to feed their egos and quench their sexual thirst !! The other day it was shown in Aaj Tak that Item girls named Jhanvi, Carol etc sell cocaine and serve as prostitutes and earn around Rs. 50,000/- per 2 hours !!)- truly a Bhool Bhulaiya world ....and who/what  is making you lose your mind?- shapely buttocks and teats of whores?!)

compared wit the original malayalam  MANICHITRATHAZHU,its a worst film.The action of Vidya Balan is very worse.i think she is a second class actress...very bad..The same role is done by Shobhana and is awesome...

The Akshay is also very bad...The same char is done by MohanLal,its truly superb..

Since the movie is remaked in hindi,kannada,telugu and tamil.None of them looks  natural; 

This movie cannot listed as horror movie..because the MANICHITRATHAZHU [frm which its copied] is a film released at 1993 in kerala.There is much anticipation that horror movies will not be success in Malayalam industry at that time.[since there is little family audience for such movies].So the film is portrayed as a family ent:.

IT IS SOOOO FUNNY

Loved the movie.vidya and Akshay were superb. Story was nice. The comedy scenes were awesome.

A Must Watch one.

Vidya was superb in the last part. Akshay brings life to the film. 

Bhool bhulaiyaa is okayish movie. I had the perception that its a comedy or its about ghosts ; and it isnt about either. It is a thriller , pretty new concept ... I wouldnt delve into the story since it is a thriller ..

acting wise - except shiney, everyone is fine.. shiney has that flat face and flat dialogue delivery .. he should take sabbatical from bollywood for a while and join an acting school.. akshay and vidya balan are good...

The movie should have been shorter, and more crisper.. the forced comedy in the beginning is totally unwarranted, and it is more irritating than comical..

I am still giving it a 3 star cuz the climax was pretty neat.. the basic concept of the thriller is good ..  

It is wonderful movie

great horror

and lovingly story  

I wonder why these people make movies that they steal from malayalam movies that have won awards...

and then they laugh....and write reviews that make no sense..

a movie has to be genuine....so does everything about it..

or else they could have just dubbed it...

IT WAS VERY FUNNY.THE STORY REVOLVES AROUNDA HAUNTED PALACE.SIDDARTH AND AVNI ARE FRM AMERICA AND SID IS THE HEIR.THEY DONT BELIEVE IN GHOSTS BUT SOON STRANGE THINGS START HAPPENIN' . SID THINKS THAT RADHA IS DOING ALL THAT FAMILY AS HER FAMILY IS ALSO LIVIN' IN THE PALACE TO PROTECT THEM.HE CALLS HIS FRIEND DR.ADITYA SRIVASTAV,A PHYSOLOGIST,TO CURE HER.WHAT HAPPENS THEN IS BHOOL BHULAIYA .DO WATCH IT .ITS REALLY FUNNY AND INTERESTING .THE MUSIC IS GOOD AS WELL.DEFINITELY WORTH WATCHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  But first things first, the movie is a remake of the Tamil hit 'Manichitra Tazhu' (forgive me if  I got the name wrong) with an award winning and critically acclaimed performance of Shobana. It is a good movie, overall, considering Priyan's genre being comedy. He has done full justice to the movie.

 It's not a regular Priyan movie, where he has a bunch of jokers, spilling some ok-ok one liners, (most of them repeated from old movies) written by Neeraj Vora (the mastermind behind Hera Pheri and many Priyan movies and Mann starring Aamir & Manisha) and bundled with loads of unwanted songs. B B is different. It has got a proper story, comedy at regular intervals and songs when needed (to break the continuity)and it lives up to it's genre (horrer-comedy). It's has also got some scenes which are not for the faint-hearted. Priyan has again repeated the trio of Paresh Rawal-Asrani-Rajpal Yadav, who do full justice to thier roles. Manoj Joshi is also a Priyan loyal.

The story goes like this- Sidharth ( Shiney) is the heir to a kingdom. He is supposed to get married to Radha (Amisha) who is the adopted daughter of his chacha (Manoj Joshi). But when he returns from America, everybody is shocked as he has already married Avni (Vidya), who is an archeologist. He (Shiney) entrusts the work of redecoration of his ancestral palace to his fupha, Paresh Rawal. The palace is believed to be haunted by the ghost of a court dancer - Manjulika ( a Bengali dancer). Her spirit is locked on the third floor due to her untimely death (watch the film for full story). Avni, not afraid of ghosts and not believing in stories about them, opens up the heavily-guarded door (mantras and stuff like that) with the help of Rawal's daughter. Strange incidents happen after that. The key-smith who duplicates the key is found dead, Rawal's daughter is attacked and Radha (Amisha) is suspected. Sidharth (Shiney) suggests that Radha is unstable as she is adopted. Enter Dr Shrivastav (Akki)  as a psychiatrist just before interval. He is the entertainer for the whole movie, even though he enters just before interval and he is perfect for the role. In fact, the casting is outstanding.

As far as the perfornances are concerned, Vidya has delivered her best performance (and Aishwarya, who was the first choice, could not have matched it. It would have been a mistake) and she is the most beautiful actress. Even though Akki enters just minutes before the interval, he steals the show. Shiney has lived up to the standards set by him in Gangster, Woh Lamhe & Metro. The other actors do justice to their roles, especially the comic trio of Paresh Rawal-Asrani-Rajpal Yadav who provide the much-needed dose of humour in the first half. The second half definately belongs to Akki and Vidya. Shiney is present throughout the film and makes his presence felt.

The music definately rocks, the pick of the lot being Labon Ko, Sajda, Allah Hafiz and the Bengali -Classical number Amee Je Tumhaar. Hare Ram is a chartbuster, so nothing to be said except that Samir (lyrics writer) has lost it. A sample of the nonsense is -

"Tu meri Khamoshi hai

 Tu meri Madhoshi hai

 Tu mera Har Afsana

 Tu mera hai Fasana" 

 Is this the same Samir who gave beautiful songs like Aashique, Sadak & Sajan???

Well, to end it, it's a much watch if you are a fan of the cast, especially Vidya and Akki because as you leave the theatre, you are left desiring more of Akki and Vidya, especially her Kathak dance (sorry if I got the form wrong. My knowledge of dance is limited to the defination that it is something I can't do. If one of my friend is reading this, could you suggest a dance teacher or if you know how to dance, could you teach me? ) Well, Sayonara for now. 

Movie name fits the plot very well. It really is a bhool bhulaiya.. u wont get even a single hint as in what is going around and what the characters r trying to do..
