Madhuri's comeback film, Aaja Nachle, is about dance, passion, and the need to uphold righteousness. Diya (Madhuri) is a small town girl who married an American. After her divorce she finds out that her dance teacher, back home in Shamli, is about to breathe his last.
By the time she returns to her little town he is gone and has entrusted her to revive and protect Ajanta Theatre. This was the same place where she used to perform.
How she saves her theatre from the clutches of politicians and contractors who want to break it down and construct a shopping mall, at the same time putting together a dance troupe, makes up the film.
