Hello everyone! I loved this movie...i saw the first day first show and I was so impressed by Akshay .. after a lot of time ,Akki has came up witha movie with lot of sensibility and perfection. The real cause for me to hit the cinema was My favorite actress AYESHA TAKIA... I was not interested in the cast, neither the subject nor the crew I just went to see that movie because of ayesha Takia and Oh my gosh! akshay made me a fan off his...!!! But i personally felt The music would be good than the prevailing one...!! Someone like Vishal-Shekhar should have composed its musis and Shreya Ghosal would have sang the song Hafiz Khuda...So my rating for the movie is full and This movie's defination is

  • '' 8 x 10 tasveer: A perfect movie with all the essence of action and thriller.undoubtely one of the most sensible and good movie in the hindi cinema''.

Tasveer was expected to be one of the greatest films of 2009, but it didn't fulfill that.  I think it was an okay film but not bad. But it is a great movie to watch to pass the time and I would recommend people to watch it.

really akshay is a loser ..... he wanted to be the king but ended up in his place at the bottom of the ladder ....

he was doing well in welcome and then herapheri and all .....well he is good in comedy .. now he has begun to suck though..... but his attempt to do something else should be applauded but the thing is that the film has grossed a petty 5 crores in the first 4 days from the entire india after such hype over this created by box office gimmick master akshay.....

anyways sorry boss but the results prove it after a super duper flop in chandni chowk to china besides his never ending series of flops previously except the khiladi ,herapheri, welcome, singh isking(which was super sucking but somehow did the trick like oso),heybaby i guess most of his films have seen the flop marks .....

anyways akshay chal koi baat nahi next time preparation karke ana .... we will definately watch u next time ... if it is atall tolerable and not nonsense mindless disasters like chandnichowk to china aur tasveer type

and please donot follow aamir .... he is wayup from your range

TASVEER----CANNABIS AND KUKONOOR IN CANADA -IN A CRAZED COCKTAIL
Apr 5, 2009

Author: Movielover Compliment the user
Overall Rating
TASVEER-an absurdist psychic thriller posturing as a confused caricature of a Hitchcock classic brimming with sheer blunders and loose ends that is a tremendous showpiece for the non existent acting prowess of mr.Akshay kumar , filled with staccato speeches and infantile vernacular for dialogues, adorned with fuzzy jerky Canadian panoramas is a singular feat from Kukonoor which is easily comparable to will smith and 7 pounds in both self-mockery and monotony .
as the titles rolled and it became manifest the production was by SIC PICTURES ,I started dreading it might be true to its promised title and it did not disappoint as a stammering akshay first appeared as an environmental specialist who catches evil white bear trappers in the lush forests of alberta in canadian hinterlands,
but he rapidly transformed himself into a psychic medium who can ingratiate himself into any photograph as a portal to travel into the past events and this gives him mystical power to find the missing clues for past events connected with recent future in any photograph =8 into 10.
this becomes really convenient as his oil rich tycoon dad dies of a sudden massive myocardial infarction on a luxury yacht and mr.kumar is left to sort out the murder mystery with the help of a picture his mum snapped minutes before the dad drowned .

i do not want to delve any further into this maze of myocardial mish mash where kukunoor has really rendered medical emergency into a massive spoof .
kukonoor directs this as if he was in a paranoid frenzy and kumar acts like he is a stammering moron whilst ayesha takia as the love interest looks like she has forgotten her lines and is there to keep akshay company in the canadian forest.
Sharmila tagore as the mum seems to have accepted this role for a summer vacation in Canada as there can be no other logical reason for her worthless appearance .
the thriller is just as thrilling as watching kids playing football in your back garden ,while the same darned photograph is used repeatedly as the clue to the non existent murder mystery for at least seven times in 127 minutes .
this is equivocal to the awful thrillers that Shyamalan produces with regular frequency in a punctual manner and it seems both Kukonoor and Shyamalan are on the same drugs.
may god help them to rehabilitate each other BUT please avoid this junk shot in CANADA as it might be an infectious epidemic,
this is easily the worst lifetime performance by javed jaffri as habib pasha [called affectionately as HAPPI WITH AN I ]the quizzical police inspector on trail of the murder who is an eclectic mix of mr.bean and inspector closeau ,that role and its execution is a true reflection of how myopic and totally inadequate was the micro vision of the creator who once made classics like DOR AND IQBal -PLEASE RETIRE MR KUKONOOR

THE STUPIDEST MOVIE I HAVE EVEN WATCHED. WHAT MADE AKSHAY SIGN SUCH A STUPID MOVIE. DIDNT HE READ THE SCRIPT? WHY DOESNT  NAGESH ADMIT THE FACT HE IS NOT A WRITER? HE SHOULD WORK WITH THE WRITER OF IQBAL, I THINK HIS NAME WAS VIPUL... AND RECREATE THE MAGIC. I GOT A SEVERE HEADACHE JUST AFTER THE FIRST FIFTEEN MINUTES. JUST PLAIN DUMB. IS NAGESH THINKING THAT HE CAN TAKE THE INDIAN AUDIENCE FOR GRANTED? I THINK HE SHOULD GO BACK TO AMERICA AND CONTINUE WITH HIS GUTTER OR WASTE BUSINESS WHATEVER. NEVER IN MY LIFE I AM GOING TO WATCH A MOVIE MADE BY THIS JERK EVEN IF ABHISHEK BACHAN IS IN IT.

Read full review at my blog : http://dunkdaft.blogspot.com/2009/04/8x10-tasveer-movie-review.html Director Nagesh Kukunoor this time, has shifted his focus from rather heart warming or light hearted films to one which leaves your heart beating faster. [well, somewhat]. A suspense thriller-a 'whodunnit movie' -a genre I always have fun watching. And ofcourse Nagesh is one of my favorite director who in past have made such gr8 movies like Dor, Iqbal, Rockford..just to name a few. So naturally expectations are there. But given this one is starred by Akshay kumar, and some past movies of Akshay which are not my piece of cake, I was on low profile for this movie. But surprisingly It fared well with me. And My first words after the movie were 'why the hell Akki doesn't do much roles like this?' 8x10 is a story about Jai [Akshay] who has this supernatural power to see through a picture and go into the past to find out what was happening around when the picture has been taken. One day his father Jatin [Benjamin Gilani] dies by heart attack, on a boat while partying with business partners [Girish Karnad, Anant Mahadevan, Rushad Rana] and wife Savitri [Sharmila Tagore]. While Jai thinks this is not a heart attack but his father has been murdered. Though he didn't believed in father's business having parted ways and living seperate, with live-in relationship with lovely Sheela [Aayesha Takia], still he goes on quest to.............. Nagesh Kukunoor has entered a new realm with 8 x 10 Tasveer.  Produced by Percept Picture Company, 8 x 10 Tasveer is a thriller that lives up to being a perfect example of its genre.

8 x 10 Tasveer is a story about Jai ( Akshay Kumar) who has the supernatural ability to delve into the past of anyone he chooses by entering their lives through a photograph. His powers are kept a secret and he works as a forest officer in Canada and is in a live-in relationship with girlfriend Sheela(Ayesha Takia). Jai’s father, Jatin(Benjamin Gilani) is the owner of a vast business empire that he created from scratch and is disappointed with his son for wanting to become an environmentalist and  not willing to manage the company after him and this strains the relationship between father and son. Nevertheless, over a period of time he reconciles and decided to turn over his company to provide funds for his son’s venture. But before anything can happen, Jai’s father is involved in an ‘accident’ on a boat and dies leaving all his fortune to his wife Savitri(Sharmila Tagore). Happi(Javed Jaffrey) comes to investigate the accident as he believes it to be a murder. Happi and Jai together solve the crime using Jai’s supernatural ability and the suspense keeps you gripped to the edge of your seat.

Akshay Kumar

There are a few discrepancies in the script and it would be sacrilege to reveal the end or the identity of the killer, but the reasons that compel the murderer to commit crime after crime are unbelievable and far from convincing. The writer doesn't have convincing answers to offer and there are many gaps that remain wide open till the end. The scenes are picturesque and look right out of a postcard and the film has been shot stylishly in the breath-taking locales of Canada and South Africa. Akshay proves himself a brilliant actor and shows he can take up serious roles with as much ease as his other ‘masala’ filled roles. Sharmila Togore lives up to her name and all the other actors in the supporting roles, Jaaved Jaffrey, Girish Karnad, Benjamin Gilani, Ananth Mahadevan and Rushaad Rana have delivered to perfection.

The movie had me completely caught up in it and was worth the time I spent watching it inspite of it having a few short-comings. A good timepass movie. Watch it if you have the time!

18 by 7 Tasveer is an above average movie by Bollywood standards, but a disappointing salvo from Nagesh Kukunoor?s repertoire. This whodunnit-cum-supernatural flick tries earnestly to keep the audience on the edge, and at most places it succeeds. But sometimes the effort shows. Jai Puri, a forest ranger, is led to investigate the loss of his father?s death. He possesses the supernatural powers of being able to enter the past through photographs, and is able to unearth his father?s murderers. He is slowly drawn into an intriguing saga of greed, lust and revenge. Finally, the killer turns out to be a completely different and unexpected person, invisible at the scene of crime. The script and screenplay are fairly crisp and racy, but not clever. There are quite a number of surprises that are woven into the fabric of the movie, and sometimes, they come as pleasant adrenaline shots. However, towards the end, there are too many concessions to an Indian audience, so much so that the conclusion becomes almost predictable. What mars the overall tautness and the feeling of freshness is the ageing and sagging persona of the hero, Akshay Kumar. Though he has essayed a fairly competent performance, his middle-aged looks look tired in what could have been a vibrant and youthful narration. Ayesh Takia is brilliant as the heroine. She is sharp and nuanced in her performance, with a face that is different, and a voice that makes you listen. The age difference between the leading pair seems too glaring. Sharmila Tagore is pleasant, and the rest of the cast is complementary. The movie is well directed and edited, with some excellent screenplay shots. However, you expect more from Nagesh Kukunoor. You can see the movie once, but don?t bother if you are not able to.

Percept to release Akshay Kumar starrer Tasveer on 3 April Story By:CHUMAN DASupdated on: 21/01/09
MUMBAI: Akshay Kumar's Chandni Chowk to China has been severely panned by the critics but the movie has gone on to collect Rs 330 million (Rs 33 crores) in India and RS 120 million (Rs 12 crores) from the overseas in its opening weekend. Most have started writing the actor's epitaph as they feel that he now no longer can claim the numero uno position.

However, post the debacle Akshay is back to the studios shooting for Nagesh Kukunoor's Tasveer. Shooting at Mehboob Studios in suburban Mumbai, the producer of the film and Percept Picture Company joint managing director Shailendra Singh feels that there is much ado over nothing. Singh said, "Akshay's position is still strong. My film will not be affected. Tasveer is a psychological thriller and is of a different genre. I am very confident of my product."

Keeping in mind that Akshay has two big releases, Kambakkth Ishq in May and De Dhana Dhan during Eid, Percept will be releasing Tasveer on 3 April.

This patchwork of Tasveer will wrap up the shooting for the film. According to sources, this was very much in the planning, thus quelling rumours that Akshay wanted some portions re-shot. The movie has been directed by Nagesh Kukunoor

Shahid Kapur in Akshay-Takia's TASVEER
Shahid Kapur in Akshay-Takia's TASVEER

By glamsham
Saturday Sep 1 2:25 PM

Abid, Bollywood Trade News Network

Nagesh Kukunoor's next project after AASHAYEIN is getting bigger. The film in question, TASVEER, which already has Akshay Kumar and Ayesha Takia, now has a new star, Shahid Kapur.

In fact, as per media reports, Shahid is presently shooting for the film in Canada. The super natural thriller is likely to be completed in one schedule (after Akshay starts his work) and that is why Akshay has been paid a huge fee for his bulk dates.

While we are happy about Shahid being in the film, we just wonder why he has agreed to work with Akshay again. For those who are unaware, Shahid had allegedly accused Akshay of getting many of his scenes chopped off from Firoz Nadiadwala's DEEWAANE HUYE PAAGAL and had gone public saying that he will never work with him again.

While on TASVEER, Akshay was to shoot for the movie from the first week of September, but as he is in the TASHAN get up and shooting for the movie, TASVEER will have to wait for now.
