I'll cut straight to what I have in mind.

I've often been in situations, wherein I could predict the next scene of an unseen film. I'm sure many of you might have been able to do the same. And sometimes......even a poster gives away bits and pieces of story line.

I find it interesting to pry on the Indian filmmaker's minds...ya it's a kind of spoilsort - but ah! what the hell. I'll do it anyways ;)

I'm starting with Saawariyaan!

I'm guessing, from what I've seen and read, the film will have this:
Two major appearances by Salman Khan, One in the beginning - first half, the other in the End - Second Half. Both key appearances.

In the first Salmaan meets our female lead, when she's a child, and becomes a kind of father figure for her. In the end, Salmaan is out of Jail and becomes extremely instrumental in uniting our lovesick leads (sick! the same old story again and again :)).

Let's see how close am I to an Indian filmmaker/ writer's mind.

Now, to share what made me think the above, Salmaan's interview in press which mentioned that he has a role similar to Balraaj Sahni's Kabuliwallah. There!

Does anyone want to figure out Om Shanti Om? 'Cause I haven't a clue 'bout it.

Ok. I'll go again.

Guesswork. Saawariyan would be....
There's The princess - our female lead - who belongs to a super rich family.
There's the charming Ranbir, who's the poor one, but an extrodinary character.

They fall in love. Conflict.
Some super rich action in the end. Salman plays a crucial role here. Maybe even dies getting the love birds to meet.
And the love story has a happy ending.

I'm guessing the novelty will be in how these guys fall in love.
I'm not sure if the movie holds any more innovation in the story line.

Looks good .. But why are you relating Salman with Jail.

Gut feeling, for one.

Two, The kabuliwala comparison.

Three, I'm guessing he plays an action oriented role in uniting the two love birds. The character will have a strong standing if he's a real toughie, innocent or a "ethical" jailed bird (you know like jailed for killing someone & u don't feel he did any wrong, the killed deserved it).

And lastly, it will be an ideal plot for letting him dissapear for many years from the lives of our leads (from their childhood  through the teens).

How's that?

but i wonder puneet.. how come u u could nt  guessed the plot for OSO., thats much predictable then Saawariya., most of the things are completely indicated in theatrcal tarailor., i guess u missed one.

Well hard as it may be to believe, I've not had a look at any of the trailors. Any at all! What's your guess with the story, from whatever you've seen?

It's fun when we're able to guess something right down to the core of a stroy, plot or scene.

Dont want to spoil it, but the film is the adaptation of the White nights,, the story u can read here

The Big question is what has been adapted to suit Indian palate ,, and whats been left out......

And puneet what about Rani ??The story and caricature u pointed out is really very filmy but this is a bhansali film,,the track record of khamoshi,HDDCS,black shows really a good imagination so lets hope this movie also shake all of us from the stupor,,,,,to tell u the truth  i find OSO trailors more interesting,, Sawariyaan 's r teasers and OSO are in -ur-face kind of.....

Oh yes. Bhansali's films are a class apart! no doubt about that.
Can't quite make out what I felt after watching "Black". It was Dinner. That, and imagine I hadn't eaten for months :). Food for soul.

Now coming back to Rani, umm...she'll most probably be playing Salman's love interest. It's probably on account of her, that Salman goes to jail. It's possible that Salman does not she's alive when he goes to jail, but ah she's been alive all these years. She's been Ranbir's Surrogate mother all the while. And salman comes back and finds out that she's still alive. But they couldn't meet after all. In the process of getting our leads to unite, they both sacrifice their lives.

Man, either I have a very sad outlook at life, or Bhansali just brings that out in me. :)

ummm.... I breezed through the short story (white night).
Bhansali might have something up his sleeve .

I... mm..... (might be) way off the mark here!

(gotta watch Saawariyan. Remind me not to mess with a Bhansali product again )

Again i will say the adaption to suit the indian palate will definately it make more filmi...the film looks very dark and gloomy to me inspite of songs and dance sequence.. as puneet u r doing ,,i.e visualising the movie by the trailor i find it very Europish,the costume ,the sets ( reminds me of venice),,,the dark ambience,, what does all this convey, i wonder?

I haven't seen the trailors, but if you say it's Europish, wasn't "black" kinda europish? He seems to be targetting his market at international audience, more on European side. Hence the quality.
Bhansali, gives an impression of poetry. His direction skills are enchanting.

thats rigt puneet., bhansali's style is way ahead of Farha khan's.

Her debut main hoon haan was utterly rubbish  movie yet a superhit due to srk , hence expectations are high with OSO as per BO is concern., but i m keen to see Saawaria only becuz of Bhansalis's expertise. 

I have to agree with you there bro. Can't really compare the quality that Bhansali produces, to that of farah khan.

I'm leaning now more towards Saawariyaan. Just can't seem to get the infectious aura of energy of SK out of the way. Damn! If farah wastes this opportunity, I'd feel sorry :)

So....from what you've seen/ read, how 'bout you guess some of OSO's story/ scenes?

I guess ., its rincarnation story., as first part he is an aspiring actor(a junior artise with big dreams) ., dies  and make it big in 2nd half.
