Finally the Thalapathy returned to the microphone and it’s for his upcoming 3D motion capture flick Kochadaiyaan. The last time the Style Mannan sang for a film was in his 1992 flick Mannan. Now after two decades his fans will be blessed with his own rendition of an emotional song in the film directed by his daughter Soundarya and written by hit maker K S Ravikumar.

Sources report that the song was recorded on March 11 in Chennai and that the shooting of Kochadaiyaan will finally begin on March 21 in London. Deepika Padukone is the playing Rajini’s heroine in this film too after already bagging the female lead for Superstar’s next, Rana. Incidentally, Kochadaiyaan is a prequel to Rana.

Stars’ crooning for movies is not a new thing for Kollywood. Simbu followed his dad T Rajendar to the recording room for his movies and occasionally sings for others too. Ulaga Nayagan Kamal has sung numerous songs for his movies. And Rajini’s own son-in-law Dhanush created the “Kolaveri” wave. But all this seems miniscule when compared to Rajini’s effort for Kochadaiyaan. Sources suggest that Rajini did not pick up the microphone for a promotional gig but did it on the insistence of his daughter Soundarya. She felt that if he renders certain emotional lines for the film, it will create magic. And from the insider reports, it seems that she was right!
We just need to wait anxiously for the release now to hear his rendition.
