The maverick star Silambarasan, popularly known as Simbu or STR, launched a single from his forthcoming flick Poda Podi on Thursday. The film is directed by Vignesh Siva and marks the debut of Varalakshmi, daughter of actor Sarath Kumar.
STR kick-started the trend of launching singles in Tamil cinema with “Evan Di Unnai Pethaan…” from Vaanam. He has now launched “Love Panlama Venama...” from Poda Podi, which is touted to be a romantic entertainer. The film has music by Dharan and Yuvan Shankar Raja has lent his voice for a song.
The film is produced by Nemichand Jhabhak and a major portion has been shot abroad. The much-delayed movie is gearing up to hit the screens soon. Apart from Poda Podi, STR is currently busy with Vettai Mannan and Vaalu.
Music director Dharan said, “Every music director dreams of having a perfect film, a la Alaipayuthey (for Rahman) or a Minnale (Harris Jayaraj) to showcase one's talent. For me Poda Podi is that project. Just like my debut film Parijatham, this is a romantic musical. The script is quite challenging for a composer as it is about dance, salsa in particular. I hope I can live up to the expectations.”
