Director Sargunam will direct actor Dhanush in the film titled, Sottavalakutty, and shooting is scheduled to begin from the last week of September in Kumbakonam. This will be Sargunam’s third venture after Kalavani and Vaagai Sooda Vaa.
Kathiresan, who had made films like Aadukalam and Polladhavan with Dhanush earlier, is producing the movie. He plans to release Sottavalakutty in February, 2013.
Said to be a comedy caper, the script revolves around a young man who makes bronze lamps in Kumbakonam, and falls in love with a dentist. Dhanush plays the lead role while Vamsi Krishna dons the role of a baddie in the film. Nasser, Sayaji Shinde, Suri, Singam Puli, Sriman, and Sathyan are the other members of the cast. The heroine is yet to be finalized.
Gibran, who did a fine job in Vaagai Sooda Vaa, scores the music, while Omprakash cranks the camera. Vaali and Arivumathi will be penning the lyrics.
