The Kannada film industry is really disappointed with the state budget 2012-13 as Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda has ignored the Kannada film industry completely this time.
The Kannada film industry had pinned high hopes on the budget. The industry which is facing problems like failure, piracy, and competition from other language films had suggested a number of things, but none of them have been given prominence in the budget.
Earlier two children’s films used to get a 25 lakh subsidy every year, D V Sadananda Gowda had said that the number of films will be increased from two to four from this year. Only this promise has been fulfilled and the Kannada film industry literally, did not get anything apart from this.
The small screen has got a fund of one crore for the newly constructed building in Uttarahalli. The Karnataka Television Association (KTVA) had asked for a fund of five crore, out of which one crore has been granted for the same.
