Ravichandran’s films were being smuggled: Rajamouli

Channel:

Tollywood director S S Rajamouli met ace director and actor V Ravichandran at a recent press meet in Bangalore. The director, who was very happy to meet a man of Ravichandran’s stature, was all praise for him.

The director said that in the 80’s and 90’s South Indian directors were intimidated by him. Every time his film released, it was being smuggled into Chennai and a screening would be held for many well-known directors at that time.

But as Rajamouli was an assistant then, he was not allowed to watch those films. He added that he had seen many directors envy Ravichandran’s talent and had said that if they could film a song like him they would definitely win.

The director also said that he felt blessed to have shot his first film Student No 1 with the same camera that Ravichandran had used.
