The two time State award winning actress Bhavana is upset over the recently announced 59th National Awards. The reason is that the best actress award was given away to Vidya Balan for her performance in The Dirty Picture.
When contacted over the phone the very unhappy Bhavana said, “I don’t understand why Vidya was given this coveted award. On what grounds was she selected? The role had no social concern or relevance. Even Vidya’s performance was not up to the mark. Except for the reason that her role in The Dirty Picture was sensuous and much talked about, there is no other reason for her to get the award.”
Bhavana reiterated that if only hype and sensuousness is the yardstick for the best actress award, then her role in Darshan starrer Chingaari where she was seen in a glamorous role would get an award next year.
