Vadivelu was born in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India on 10th October 1960 and his nickname is Vaigai Puyal named after a river.

TROUBLE
In 2008, Vadivelu's house located in Saligramam near Chennai was damaged with stones by a gang. The actor is suspecting his rival Vijayakanth and has filed a case against him. Vadivelu is still getting threat messages.
