Ronnie Screwvala was born on 8th September 1962 in Mumbai, India.

Ronnie Screwvala introduced cable television in Mumbai in 1981. He also experimented with making ad films and later moved into producing television serials and movies.
In 1990, Screwvala started UTV Software Communications which dealt largely with production and distribution of movies. In 2004, UTV started a channel for children called Hungama TV and in 2008, they started a news channel called UTVi.
Mira Nair’s The Namesake and M.Night Shyamalan’s The Happening are two international movies that he has been a part of. He shared the Filmfare Best Movie Awards for Rang De Basanti (2007) and Jodhaa Akbar (2008).
