Abhishek Kapoor belongs to the young breed of contemporary directors who aren’t afraid to go against the norms. He is also an actor which has helped him in directing and writing for movies.
Actor
Kapoor stepped into the film industry as an actor, appearing in movies like Uff Yeh Mohabbat (1996), Ashique Mastana (1996) and Shikaar (2000).
Director
In 2006, he decided to turn director with Aryan, a film about boxing which failed to pack a punch.
Inspiration struck while he was listening to some rock music and the story for Rock On was born. The movie, about four guys who are part of a band, was a hit. It starred Arjun Rampal, Farhan Akhtar, Purab Kohli and Luke Kenny.
He won the Filmfare Best Story Award and was nominated for the Filmfare Best Director Award in 2009.
