Abbas Tyrewala is a Bollywood writer and director.
Basics on Abbas Abbas Tyrewala was born in Mumbai, India. An ardent story teller, it was not long before he started working on plays and writing jingles.
He joined St.Xaviers College, Mumbai. When he was in his final year, he quit college to start working with Ogilvy and Mather PR Agency. He is the man who wrote the Cema tubelight’s jingle back in 1993. He later joined the creative team of Cinevista which was into television production.
After his stint with Cinevista, writing for movies became his full time occupation.
Abbas Tyrewala’s Movies Abbas Tyrewala has explored a wide range of styles while penning dialogues. Snappy one liners in rom coms like Salaam Namaste (2005); defiant and profound lines in Maqbool (2003) and Asoka (2001) and spooky ones for Darna Mana Hai (2003).
Munnabhai M.B.B.S won him a Filmfare Best Dialogue Award in 2004.
In 2008, he wrote and directed Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na which was Imraan Khan’s debut. Though the story was anything but unusual, it was refreshing and was one of the major hits in 2008.
He is taking the director’s seat again for 1-800-Love (2009).
